Got Ultimate Gohan from barnes and Noble this week. The Goku body gets a lot of flak for being out of date, but as someone who's been into this since the 90's(both figures in general and Dragon ball) I'm just amazed that something as articulated and detailed even exists every time I get another one of these. Gohan and Vegetto managed to make the same old body feel fresh.

The effect part and stand for it are a nice addition, though I wish they at least added a clip to use the stand as a figure stand, though I guess you should have a set of Tamashii stands by now.

No, it's just an awful figure. Banpresto made a good looking 16 in the Scultures line. Compare the two. They're worlds apart. Then compare the 18's that SHF put out and the Banpresto one(s). They're not so far apart in terms of sculpt quality.

I'm dismayed people liked them, because I hated Battle of Gods and RoF. I'm 29 years old, and grew up watching DB and DBZ. So I was excited when I heard new content was coming out. There is no possible way DBZ had worse writing than the movies. Everything from the cheap transformation re-colors, to Goku nearly getting killed by a ring-pop, to Piccolo nearly getting dusted by a nobody, to Whis' easy button re-do power really frustrated the piss out of me. They were severely disappointing on many levels.

The actual fight scenes themselves were also underwhelming, and didn't seem to fit with the older style that the DBZ battles had. Even little things like Frieza not using his tale during the battle was missing in the movies. He used it tons during his first battle with the Z-Warriors, but it was like he didn't have it at all this go around.

For me, the problem with RoF and DBS is just that it feels like there's no real weight or urgency to the stakes of the battles.

BotG was kinda neat, because it was cool to see another full DBZ movie with a powerful, unique looking villain appearing. But even then, the stakes didn't seem too high, since Beerus and Whis only seem half into what's even going on, and are just casually like "Well, if you don't produce this powerful warrior, Beerus here will fuck your planet up."

God Goku and Beerus fight in BotG just seemed flaccid. When Freeza came back in RoF he seemed like he practically wasn't even a real threat. Goku and Vegeta just seemed like they were going through the motions fighting him, and him getting so powerful in such a short time was just kinda silly.

DBS has just been marred by poor animation, and bad treatment of pretty much everyone that isn't Goku and Vegeta.

I agree with you on pretty much everything, but to be honest, I didn't really mind SSGSS being a blue-haired Super Saiyan. I actually thought that was kind of neat, how the new powerups kind of "overwrote" the old ones. I mean, everything past SSJ2 just seems ridiculous to begin with, and there's no way they could add a new SSJ4, or god forbid an SSJ5 without it just coming off as some stupid looking fanfiction-tier garbage. I thought Super Cyan was fine, really.

Supposedly a tournament between universes 6 and 7.

Reward is basically the set of "Prime" Dragonballs, that scatter across the universe when used. They're the size of planets, and the Namekian DBs were created from shards of them.

Champa has collected 6 of the 7.

Team that will fight in the tournament will be Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Buu, and "The strongest person Beerus has ever fought" (not Whis).

Apparently, it is going to be another space-faring adventure, because they need to get to the center of the universe to be able to read where the last Dragonball is.

There's also some new characters who are friends of Jaco's that give them some more info on these DBs, or whatever.

Champa is collecting the DBs because he wants to switch universe 6 and universe 7's Earths around, for whatever reason.

Champa and Beerus have a long competitive history.

They each have 3 pairs of hands, as opposed to 2 from the first wave (counting them from Neo onwards, as the original Shodo were obviously different). It'd be really nice if they started announcing more. Could you imagine if they took care of this line the same way as Assault Kingdom? In scale Shenron, tons and tons of characters. I think Datong is now selling just the heads for some of the figures. I've seen people selling just the SSJ3 Goku head on ebay for like, $20~$25. Could just do that and then buy one of the cheaper figures with that Gi, like Mystic Gohan and have a makeshift SSJ3 Goku for pretty cheap.

It's too bad that they can't just repaint this one white and purple and release it as an improved normal Frieza, but there are those differences in bodily features that set them apart. I suppose if they just tweaked the shoulders and shins it could be exactly that, but it's always debatable as to how much effort Bandai actually wants to put into this line. Chances are we'll just get the old shitty Frieza with less accessories...

Yes they are. 900 yen apiece (but not like that's actually doable unless you're in Japan) or about 4500yen at AmiAmi for 6 of them. They're a little smaller than the Shodo Vs figures, or Assault Kingdom, but they're VERY nicely painted with smooth but sufficiently stiff joints and a pretty good range of motion. I got the first wave not too long ago and I like them a lot. Hence why I'm really hoping for more and cautiously excited.

I got the Aliexpress trunks in earlier today. I'm currently at my girls dorm so the lighting ain't that great.

Figures nice though. Not on par with datong but not far behind. The only real problem I have is that this damn thing is so hard to stand.

Nothing seems weak though. Some derpyness. But it's a bootleg what do you expect? But most of the faces are good.

Side note, Canadian Amazon is pretty good. They sell official Bluefin things now, and often there are a lot of good discounts. For example, Figuarts Hibiki is currently under $30. Shodo Neo DB are a pretty good price too. Around $40 for the 6. For DB Figuarts things will usually sell out immediately and at most have a discount of ~$4.
