Just got one of these big black series fuckers from toys r us here in canada and I have a question....

where the fuck am I supposed to put it, It's just a little too heavy for me to hang it from the roof with confidence....
>>
You can't leave it setting for long or the wings start to warp, too. It's kind of a "now what?" item.
>>
>>5275450
really? fuck so what like 5 hooks from the ceiling or what?
>>
>>5275446
Put a tenga egg in the cockpit and fuck it.

If you're a DIY guy, you could make a stand like what they use to display handeggs. Put the wing connectors or the body in the little curve here.
>>
>>5275467
The issue with that is I simply have no shelf space left, so maybe put it on one of those then hang that? or am I retarded.

fyi I know I am that was rhetorical.
>>
>>5275472
You got any existing bars or maybe window grills in your room? Maybe you find some a pair of large S-Hooks and just hang the toy on them.
>>
>>5275450
From my experience, that is not true.

The only way I can see that happening is if you're using the TIE to prop up a tabletop and your home temperature is perpetually hotter than Death Valley, in which case I'd have to wonder why the hell you're buying pricey toys instead of air conditioning.

I have heard of this happening with the 3.75" TIE, but the wings on the Black Series TIE are sturdy as hell. If you have information showing otherwise, then please share it so I know to be careful, but I've had my TIE on display for almost a month and the wings are just fine.
>>
>>5275483
well it can go anywhere in the apartment really. So no, the only bars are for the curtains and they are no where near away enough from the wall for it, and I have no idea what a window grill is. Im in canada remember, its either old apartments, brand new expensive as shit houses or a fucking igloo.
>>
>>5275446
I keep mine in my living room at the moment.

>>5275450
On mine, I can pop one of the wings on and off without resistance. The other is stubbornly stuck on there. So what I do is take one off and lay it on the wing that stuck on so it's flat on the ground.

The thing is fucking huge, but I love it. I'm gonna try and hang it somehow, eventually.

What do think of the proportions of this guy? Is the cockpit meant to be a little bit smaller?

However, I noticed that the regular First Order TIE Fighter and the Elite TIE Fighter are completely different designs in that the Elite one is a two seater and has those gear teeth parts on the connecting base of the wings.

Pic is Disney's well proportioned Diecast version
>>
>>5275446
being thinking of getting the same one, didn't for the exact same reason, i have no idea where to place it, already have a original Tie Interceptor from a few decades ago that i never figured where to expose...

The proportions are imperfect for sure, either the wings should be bigger or the cockpit smaller, or perhaps a combination of both. Still, it looks seriously rad once you've got it put together and taking up your floor space, haha.

The Disney diecasts though are really nice vehicles for the price, though QC is a little spotty. I picked up a resistance X-Wing and thought it was great, til I noticed the two halves of the fuselage had been assembled incorrectly so there was a huge gap along the length of the fuselage.

For the TIEs, the paint apps on the wings could be cleaner, but the biggest oversight is that on the Spec Forces TIE, they didn't paint the red on top of the left rear engine housing, instead they painted around it (you can see it in your pic). Despite my nitpicks, I do think the Disney diecasts are very cool.

>>5278795
Here he is with a 3.75" TIE Interceptor. Yeah, the Black Series is ginormous, but it's so cool! I think if you're interested and your only concern is space, then go ahead and pick it up and just keep it in the box for the time being. The box is huge but still fairly easy to store. If you've got space for a big suitcase, you've got space to store the Black Series TIE (and you can play with the Elite Pilot in the meantime, which is a great figure).
>>
>>5280332
Damn, that's fucking huge! Now at least it doesn't seem so expensive, will probably get it anyway.

With an RD GM Sniper II, Figma Mikasa, and a DX Chogokin VF-19 Advance (which on its own cost 1.5 times the TIE; good example of why it's best not to think too much about what you spend on toys, haha).

Thanks for the comparison, the new Tie looks awesome.
i am noticing however that my Interceptor is rather different from the one in you pics, mine doesn't has the black on the wings, it's smoot gray, and the cockpit is in a different tone of gray.
I wonder if mine is much older or if my country's version was simply less detailed. How old is yours?

Up until 2001, all the 3.75" Interceptor toys had wings where the black sections were simply stickers (which may be why yours no longer has any black; all the stickers fell off!). With the Power of the Jedi line in 2001, Hasbro made new Interceptor wings where the black section was molded with the textured look and painted black.

In 2007 as part of the Legacy line, Hasbro made an all new cockpit section for its TIE Fighters that was more screen accurate and had much better detail inside the cockpit itself.

So for the 2013 VC Interceptor, for the very first time Hasbro put together the updated 2001 Interceptor wings with the updated 2007 cockpit. Really great vehicle and definitely worth picking up (the only Star Wars vehicle I've bought a duplicate of), but it's gotten rather expensive on the secondary market.

While we're on the topic of TIE fighters, what's my best option for a 3.75 scale Tie Advanced? (Referring to Vader's of course, not that one on shelves now for the guy in Rebels.)
>>
>>5280332
I guess Hasbro's main line (3.75 and 6 inch) isn't great on sculpt and proportions unlike Bandai kits and toys. But at least this Black Series TIE Fighter is to scale dimension wise. But then we may need official Force Awakens data to be disclosed to confirm.

Oh, that's awesome! I've never seen that before, you've kept it in great shape too! Do the electronics still work?

>>5284581
That's actually a vehicle Hasbro had been promising to re-do for a while, but that doesn't seem like it's going to happen any more. I've never looked into too much, but I believe the main complaints with the modern TIE Advanced toy is a so-so sculpt that's really hurt by the inclusion of firing missile gimmicks in the fuselage (Hasbro put them right into the wing roots, it looks really off but if you take the missiles out then you have big holes in the wing roots...).

I think the last time Hasbro released the TIE Advanced was as part of a TRU exclusive packed with Luke's X-Wing a few years back. While the last time it was released on its own was as part of the Legacy Collection line a little while prior to that. Both releases were the same toy, as far as I know. So those would be your best options, but unfortunately they're not really great ones either.

The one from Rebels is a pretty cool toy, though. It's really cheap now (picked mine up recently for 12 bucks) and has a nice sculpt. The firing missiles are fun to mess with too! I'm not a big fan of the Inquisitor so I just let a regular TIE pilot fly it, hehe.

>>5284623
I think Hasbro does a good job on sculpts, you just gotta keep in mind that at the end of the day even their collector's stuff are still kids' toys. The detail inside the Black Series TIE's cockpit is really nice and the sculpt of the pilot is great too.

>>5284624
That would be cool for sure! In the meantime, I hope Hasbro does a Black Series Resistance X-Wing to square off against the Special Forces TIE, especially since the 3.75" Resistance X-Wing they did ain't so great.

That's a shame. I feel like it's the one thing they really haven't done properly, despite several pretty good normal tie fighters. And hell, despite the warping wings, I like the new 3.75 TFA tie fighter too.

Well, maybe I'll listen to you and cave in, just get the Inquisitor one. Especially with that comparison pic, it doesn't look like it has too much of a cartoon-y feel to it. Maybe I'll give a Darth Vader to it to hold over while waiting for an actual updated one.

One thing I really like about the 3.75" TFA TIE is how they gave it firing missiles, but they painted the missiles so that when they're plugged in they just look like the laser cannons. That's a really cool touch.

>Especially with that comparison pic, it doesn't look like it has too much of a cartoon-y feel to it. Maybe I'll give a Darth Vader to it to hold over while waiting for an actual updated one.
Yeah, it has a very good Star Wars aesthetic! The only cartoony bit would be the missiles, which I wish they'd painted the way they did on the TFA TIE, but it still looks cool. Making it Vader's ride is a great idea.

Folks are reporting finding the Rebels TIE at Ross now for just 10.99, so it may be worth checking that out if you've got Ross in your area.

>There are no stickers you have to put on the Fighter, are there?
Yeah, no stickers! Just need to put it together, which only takes a minute (plug in wings, plug in antenna and belly gun, attach cockpit canopy).

Ooh, that's tough. If you forced me to pick one... well, I'd still have to pick two, haha. The AT-TE and the Republic Gunship (Vintage version) would be tied for my favorite. The AT-TE is a darn near perfect representation of an awesome walker vehicle and it has a ton of fun, unobtrusive play features too. On the other hand, gunship-type vehicles are ALWAYS super cool and the Republic Gunship is a great example of why. Bristling with weaponry and with a healthy amount of troop carrying capacity, it's fun to zoom around and to land it so it can pick up/extract troops!

I kind of dig the Y-Wing Scout Bomber that recently got re-released in the Force Awakens line, though I have yet to pick it up. Yoda's Jedi Starfighter is a neat little toy as well, gave mine to my nephew though. In terms of Chiss figures, I know they've made Thrawn once, but I think that may be it.

Would love a modern Thrawn or Sevrance Tann figure, though there's little chance of that happening any more.
