/o/ didn't take to kindly to trying to make one there.

I'm not even sure if it belongs here, really; I didn't see an RC thread. This is more of a test to see if it works here; if so, I'll organize a beginner's pastebin and all that.

Getting cold out; I really need to get my rb5 back in action.

Oh shit a reply.
Liking the LED display; don't see many front-motored cars, though. What is that?

Just picked up an ecx torment yesterday and have been running it non stop and bashing around the local skatepark. Just taped some glow sticks to it and a headlamp to run it tonight. No lights at the park so this'll have to do.
>>
>>5268214
Sweet; how is the stock tread on those tires? I guess for bashing it doesn't matter too much.

You running LiPo or NiCd? And what mah?
>>
>>5268695
the stock tread is okay for light gravel and dirt, but on cold concrete they are not so great. I put some proline badlands on the rear yesterday, and it makes a world of difference. running a 5000mah 50c lipo in it and it's performing really nice.
>>
>>5268695
I also had to replace the front and rear A arms with a set from rpm. Too many hard hits finally snapped them.

hay.

Been a while since there's been an RC thread.

As far as the recent stuff I own goes, i've got a HPI WR8 and an E-revo.
The WR8 is blisteringly fast both on and off road. That's why it's in tatters right now. Smashed into a concrete wall while doing 50 or so in a storm drain.

and that's the e-revo.

hey, you still running the stock dynamite ESC on that? are those 50C lipos heating it up at all? i need make the transition to lipo on my ruckus, the nimh run time is depressing.
>>
>>5278106
Yea,, still running everything stock except the A arms and the rear tires. Esc isn't heating up from the 50c, but it's also pretty cold out, so that might be helping.
>>
>>5278106
I'm getting around 40 mins of run time on my 5000mah lipo, and it can charge at 3c, so i could have it charged in 20 mins if I had a charger that could get to 15amp. right now i'm using an Imax b6-ac, which has a limit of 5A, so an hour to charge, with 40 mins of runtime. I usually throw the nimh on the charger while i use the lipo, and while the lipo charges just boot around with the nimh.

FUCK YES I'M BUYING LIPOS
>>
>>5268214
I bought a brushless version of one of these trucks for 215 yesterday, seemed like it was a good deal compared to everything else in the price range. Scheduled delivery isn't until next saturday though.
>>
>>5282733
sorta wish i went with the brushless instead, but i always planned on upgrading it. i got the bone-stock bottom-of-the-line 2wd ruckus. just put the RPM servo saver eliminator kit on it and a kimbrough racing servo saver, all to get the slop out of the steering. not bad for sixteen bucks from my local shop. now i just need to get the skid plate back on in such a fashion as not to contact the new servo saver.
>>
>>5282733
I have the brushless version, it comes with a servo saver as stock. just replaced the front links, castor and steering blocks, and front shocks. makes it way more stable.

Torment guy here, been working on a madmax style paintjob for a body I picked up, this is it so far, also forgot to locktite the new parts and lost one of the screws on the new carrier.

She's also covered in grass, it's been drizzling all day, so it made for a lot of fun at the near by school. Spent a few hours ripping around the gravel paths and the baseball diamonds.

>>5279729
I've literally never seen run times this good with any of my lipos. I usually get 15-20 minutes.
>>
Should I get a tamiya bullhead or a clod buster?
>>
>>5287454
it all depends on how you drive, and the battery and motor you've got.
>>
>>5287454
yeah, 40min is optimistic to the point of incredulity. a few 4000mah 2s batteris are still gonna be a big improvement over stock, though.
>>
>>5286811
making it more stable is easier than that, but those upgrades help too. RPM racing makes a servo saver eliminator kit for like $11, and then with a kimbrough racing servo saver it's nice and straight. the back part of the front skidplate contacts the saver, but some longer screws and half inch spacers sort it out.

all said and done, i got mine set up for under twenty bucks. the stock servo saver is really bad.
>>
>>5291077
I had to replace all the parts i listed, 3 days of giving it hell at the skatepark busted a bunch of stuff. I pushed it to the limits on purpose though, I wanted to see how durable it was out of the box, and managed to convince a few friends to get into the hobby by letting them have a go. the suspension was sort of junky on it stock anyways, plastic nonadjustable shocks and weak springs. I mean, they worked great for having it as a short course truck, but i wanted to stiffen it up to reduce the body roll for racing it.
>>
>>5288844
My motor draws around 200mah per minute if it's WOT. so with the 2s 5000mah, I would get around 25 minutes if I just held the throttle down. I normally race on a short course made of gravel/sand with lots of turns and no straights that are longer than 35 feet, so most of the time it's never full throttle, otherwise it'll just fishtail everywhere.

hey dave
>>
>>5263327
Oh man I used to be into these big time, just a couple years ago. Don't have much now other than what I'm trying to sell, but if anyone wants advice for Traxxas 1/10 stuff or Durango 2WDs, I'm your man.

>>5291976
hey drew
>>
>>5273107

I still have this thing used to scare me
>>
>>5294192
yeah they're very quick on almost any terrain. Have yet to get the balls (and dosh) to try dual 3S lipos in it.
