Heh, they're actually more posable than they seem. The ball hips, ankles, and knees allow for a surprising range of motion. They ARE stiff, but yeah...they worked well on mine.

I went up to Newcastle today, looks like the Terminator Genisys figures and Aliens Powerloader have reached our shores. Didn't really fancy asian cop or 'pops' Arnie so I didn't buy any Neca stuff. And the powerloader looks cool but it's not worth £100 any day of the week.

Got Nova, Illidan, and t-800 in the other day from BBTS. Illidan's left bicep pivot was stuck and had me worried I'd twist it off, but it came loose with some hot water. Nova is great, but has a tiny speck of paint missing near her eyebrow, it's driving me crazy but it isn't a big enough issue for a return.Arnie is fine, his face sculpt isn't as great as the various Dutches, but really, I don't think we're reaching that level of perfection again.

i played alien isolation recently, got hardon about alien franchise related shit. decided to order a fuckton alien toys and they should arrive wednesday, but my alien hype is over.

This is like, a huge problem for a lot of people.
The year or two wait once a toy is announced. The lead-up to them being shipped out, or finally appearing as in-stock on a website, and them being shipped to you, or finally seeing them on the shelf at the store. Grabbing them, hurrying home to rip that packaging open.
Spend 10 minutes in awe, posing them in different ways, trying them with different accessories, figuring out where to put them on the shelf.
Setting them on the shelf and forgetting about them, and going online to look up the next thing to get hyped about, and totally forgetting the new thing you just got in about 5 minutes.

Bought a Xenomorph Warrior at a con yesterday. He's OK, the sculpt is good and I like the size but the articulation is meh and the paint is pretty underwhelming. Also no stand which seriously sucks. Not bad for £23 though.
Not sure if I'll buy any other NECA Xenos, though I might get the Queen if I have space.

Nigga, what? You don't need a joint at the base of the neck, it can move forward and back to a great degree. It's a double barbel joint. And the torso articulation is excellent, again, double barbel, allowing for motion at the ribcage AND abdomen for deeper crouches. Ankles are fine, would've liked some rockers though.

Huh. Gave my Alien a nice hot water foot-bath, which seems to have freed up the foot articulation. Nice that it's there but a bit shitty that I had to do (albeit minor) surgery on him to get full articulation out of him. Also the plastic is weirdly rubbery, and jesus christ does it go floppy in hot water. Like, I had to be seriously careful not to let him end up with rickets after his bath.
Still, all's well that ends well I suppose.

City Hunter is missing his arm attachment but he didn't have it at that point in the film anyways so who cares :^)

I made a scaled template for the gold rose box that the T-800 hides his rifle in at the beginning of Terminator 2.
Gonna print it out on some gold paper I got at the craft store. I have to find some clear material for the window, though I did find some in scale rose to use inside the box.

First episode was good... I'm glad theyre mostly doing practical effects, cus the cgi was TERRIBLE. Like.. to the point where I wish that whole thing with the little doll wasnt in the epsiode at all. Practical effect were amazing, like with the deadite girl completely turning her head around.
Enjoyed it overall, just wish theyd tone down on the comedy a tad, and focus on a little more horror. I'd prefer it if it was more along the lines of ED2, feels more like Army of Darkness from the first episode.

Last I checked, they scale decently. I know my Ghostface and Duke Nukem stand around the same height as the Select The Wolverine figure but it just depends. Ultron stands a little taller but it works and Venom stands pretty taller but since it's Venom it works.
Selects have an inconsistent scale so it's hard to tell.

Just got the Neca Alien Queen, and its really a stunning sculpt and look, but the fins man, the fins are such a huge pain in the ass. that alone drops the figure down to a 7.5/10 for me. wouldn't have expected that from such an expensive toy.
the fins pop off by the slightest touch! why couldn't they just fix the fins to that part and make them stiff? who wants articulation in them really? its not like you could move them anyways.

One thing you could try is heating each individual fin socket till it pretty hot and popping them on then putting the figure in the refrigerator or in front of an air conditioner for a little while.
My 24 inch godzillas tail had a tendency to pop off randomly and after doing thas it stays on perfectly.

I don't think it is ever to late to get into Predator. In fact, it is probably just as good of a time as any to get in, since they've got the AvP wave on the horizon which are figures that have been re-built from the ground up. They also have no signs of stopping the line, since AvP is wave 14, and Randy has said that they have planned through wave 20.
Also, the after-market prices are really going to depend on a lot of things, including which ones you're looking for, which country you live in, and how willing you are to be patient to score a good deal.

Yes, masked Jungle Hunter was re-done in wave 8. There are a lot of fakes coming out of China on ebay though, so be wary if you're buying online.

It should be cleared up: The Predator that comes in the AvP Kenner 2 pack doesn't use that body. It uses the updated wave 8 Jungle Hunter body with the new articulation (Swivel/hinge/ball thighs, and double-jointed knees).
It is basically just the wave 8 Jungle Hunter done up in a different color with two new accessories and an alternate head.

That's not always the case with the newer ball jointed legs. I have like, I have almost three dozen Predators, and maybe four or five have loose-ish hip joints. And that might kinda seem like a lot, but it is really only a problem with one of my Preds, and that's the Original wave 6 (or whatever) Borg/Lost Pred. And the only reason it is a problem is because his waist joint is pretty loose too, so he tends to lean forward with time, and then fall over, but he has stood fine with a stand.

So what would people expect or want from a Ultimate Ash? The only thing I could want is a better head sculpt or improved articulation, but as for accessories I can't think of anything.

Every last John Matrix I've seen in the wild is crosseyed. It's unbelievable. I appreciate that Neca switched factories a few years ago because of the Alien QC issues, but they've had such a massive drop in paint quality ever since.

I haven't seen any paint issues either.
I think they eyes (usually) look pretty good on most of their figures. I mean, it happens that some of them don't look so good, but you have that with pretty much any normal human action figures.
Haven't seen the John Matrix figures yet, so I can't say for sure on that one, but most of the other figures I've seen so far have been fine.

My Alien Warrior will not stand up for shit and he's way too big for a Tamashii stage. NECA's own stands are useless too as IIRC they're just clear plastic discs with pegs on them and he has no holes in his feet.
They really should have packaged him with some sort of stand. I know he's not a £40 Japanese figure but something that size and that top heavy not coming with a stand is pretty poor.
Anyway, are there any stands big enough to keep the Alien figures up?

Yeah, no. Let's look at why this is stupid.
1: The spinal projection is an iconic part of the design.
2: Having to physically remove parts of the figure- not accessories, but actual parts of the design- in order to get full articulation is dumb and lazy as fuck.
3: It could have been avoided if they'd just put the spinal plate on a ball joint or a hinge, like the Monsterarts or the Revoltech. It wouldn't break the sculpt up any more than having the removable plate does and it would be a far better solution to the problem.
