So I have no real interest in your standard anime/movie figures. But I recently found the Figma "Thinker" and thought it was really really neat. I bought it and a "Giant God Warrior" figure on a lark because I thought that they were interesting and pretty far removed from the norm when it comes to figures.
Then I saw the Revoltech Buddhist figures and now I'm considering getting one or two of those.
So, can we have a thread about the more nonstandard kind of figures? Ie ones that are either very divergent in design form the norm, or which depict something you wouldn't normally expect to see as a figure.
I dunno why but I really like these things.

Although the one pictured there from the short film that Ghibli and Anno made, not from the movie. The ones in the manga look pretty similar to that one, but the movie version was much more formless. You only ever saw their outlines and the half formed one you see is so melted it doesn't look like the ones in the manga either.

The story they have in the manga is actually much more interesting if you ask me. Nausicaa basically befriends one and finds out that mankind created the god warriors to basically be literal guardian gods for humanity, who would keep the peace and prevent conflict. Sort of a Living nuclear deterrent that would attack anyone.
The exact nature of how it went wrong is unknown, but the God warrior talks about justice and judging mankind, so perhaps they went sort of Lawful Good Skynet on humanity.
I've also been really interested in the buddhist statue collection. You can find em pretty cheap on mandarake and i think HLJ. Here are some reviews of them. They look awesome. Especially Ashura and Gundari Myoo. Motherfucker has 8 arms. That's badass.

I kept up and the ending sucked. Don't go back. It ended up with the giant version of The Littles wanting to take over our planet with some other wish granting aliens (they were dicks, but not literally) being captive or somesuch doling out the extra lives.
I don't remember them ever explaining what the hell the big black ball in the pyramid ever did or what the fuck the purpose of all the different aliens being on planet Earth was.

Gantz was one of those series I liked a lot but as I read through it, I came to the conclusion that there was no way it would end in a satisfying way. It would either continue until everyone lost interest or it would have a contrived, shitty ending.
