Kshatriya Besserung/Repair arrived yesterday!

It's quite nice as would be expected. They even changed the back connector for the stand arm hooking into it so that it's more secure. You have a sort of intermediary piece that jabs into the back hole and then has a plug for the stand. Very snug so far.

Only puzzling thing is that it includes 8 vernier effect parts despite the fact they don't plug into the huge boosters/fuel tanks and in theory the unit would only have two normal binders (but does, admittedly, have 4 total between the Besserung and Repair parts) equipped at any given time. That and some tiny sort-of triangular piece popped off when I was getting the Khsatriya itself out of the packaging but I've yet to figure out where the hell it could have come from. Has a "sealed vernier" style detail on it and a few tabs on the back.

Grats on the Kshatriya, I love the pose man! Where'd you order from, if you don't mind me asking?

Awesome to hear more reports about the improved stand connector. Curious about the piece that popped off, what color is it? Perhaps double-check the manual for a part that's supposed to be removed for either Repaired or Besserung mode?
>>
>>4510536
Got it from Nippon-Yasan. Been pretty happy with their service regarding getting web exclusives.

Here's a picture of both sides of the piece. It's fairly small and for the life of me I can't figure out where it could have possibly come from.
>>
>>4510662

It's from the sides of the repaired, grey leg. It's a flared piece that goes at the top below the knee.

Panel line some, but not all of my RDs. If your not sure if you'd wanna keep it permanent on one. I'd recommend you pick up a 'Steadtler non-permanent Lumocolor' marker, as they wash right out under warm running water; but will show up clearly on RDs. By default I use that first on my own figures to see how much I wanna panel line a figure, and after a bit use a grey gundam panel line marker for something more permanent if I wanna keep it on.

Do not recommend you use the black gundam panel liner though. So far only seen this on bare plastic parts, but the black can stain and spread a bit on RDs. So just keep that in mind.

Hope this helps!
>>
>>4510895
Yea, I figured black would be a no go. Tried that before with okay results. Not something to be satisfied with. I want it to be permanent though. I love the two Oz suits, but they need some breakup kn that color.

Also the grey gundam panel liner will show up okay enough on the RD Mercurius and Vayeate, though good luck getting it to show up on the crummy iPhone camera lol.
Also the absence of the metallic pink on the upper waist, and white trim on the flipped up face plate was done by me.

Hi /toy/ I'm at a dilemma on what to buy. Should I get:

>The RD Unicorn Heavy deco. version.
It has a pearl coating and awakened psychoframe.

or

>RD Unicorn Shield funnel
It has the awakened psychoframe and three extra awakened beam gatling gun shields. It's also a panic.

I really want to get the pearl finish but the shield funnels gets the stand and extra gatling shields. I'm not positive but pretty sure the shield funnel version doesn't come in the pearl gloss.

kinda mad since they're both exclusives and I want to be able to create the Full Armor version.
>>
>>4511161
If you want to go Full Armor, get the shield funnel version. The Special Coating ver only has 1 shield
>>
>>4511165
I have a question is it possible to put a pearl coating/paint a RD?

I was thinking about doing so on a regular Unicorn.

>>4510960
Very clean work!

>>4511161
As anon said, the Shield Funnel version will work best for a full armor display as it comes with three shields. Also, since it has the standard finish it will match best with the full armor parts which have the same finish (primarily thinking in regards to the fuel tanks/boosters).

I ordered the Shield Funnel version for the same purpose, hehe.

Alrighty. Has anyone ever painted an RD at all? Or pearl glossed it for that matter?

>>
>>4511161
>>4511231

Personally I went with the Awakened + Shield Bits version and love the hell out of it. The green psychoframe finish looks quite nice and catches the light. It's probably a bit easier/cheaper to get, too. Unless you REALLY specifically want the pearl finish I'd say go with the Shield Bits version.

>>4511272
It looks, normal! Haha, don't know how else to explain it. The body is mostly bare white plastic, but the psychoframe is painted with a metallic paint which looks gorgeous in-hand. It's a good looking figure.

As for yellowing, I've had the Unicorn pictured for... checking my order history... just shy of 3 years. Still looks as white as the day I opened it.
>>
>>4511285
Alright... I think I might end up getting the pearl gloss version....

Thanks man!

I'll just settle with the regular red later. And I mean I think I want the shield version primarily for the extra gatlin shields + stand to make that awesome swirly shield. I guess I could make my own.

>ajsfl;jalfsj;f or I'll just splurge and buy both
Heh. Glad to see I'm not the only indecisive one on here.

I've been trying to decide what I want to go with my final battle Banshee (which is preparing to ship now).

I kinda want to buy a Shield Funnel Unicorn to go with it, but then I want to make it Full Armor, so that would mean buying a FA Unicorn mode. But if I own a unicorn mode for Unicorn, I'll want one for the Banshee. But then the unicorn mode Banshee comes with a claw for regular destroy mode, so I'll want to own a regular destroy mode Banshee, which will then make me want to own a regular destroy Unicorn. DAMMIT BANDAI.

Of course he comes with it, the other guy is just fucking with you. It's like, a part of his design, not something optional they can shove off in another pack. Besides, it's not even that big of an accessory. And no, it doesn't fold out into the cape, you'll need to go for one of the kits for that. Or maybe Bandai will make the cape form parts an exclusive or pack-in with Fuunsaiki or some shit. But in booster form, yeah, they come with him.

Yesish.

It's a good figure and extremely well articulated. However, there are some who complain about the looseness of the hips.

Personally, my only issue is that the guantlets pop off a little too easily - and that the shoulder vulcans being part of the accessory pack is kinda bullshit.

What's the deal with this? Is it discoloration of certain parts or is it the whole figure?

Three Robot Damashii's in one day!? It must be my birthday.......in two weeks. Splurged and picked up the Tamashii Nations Banshee and Unicorn. They came the same day my Zeta did too.

Outside of the minty green psycho frames and pearlescent paint jobs, there's not much difference between these and the normal releases. The Banshee's "Blown Off Leg" part is a fun bonus though.

The Zeta Gundam turned out to be a fantastic release. I'm really happy about how it turned out.
>>
>>4519938
Nice set. I just bought the Tamashii Nations 2013 Unicorn since the heavy paint job on the Banshee makes it stand out compared to my Shield Funnel Unicorn. At least then they should be similarly matched.
>>

Not as nice a haul as >>4519938, but picked up these two Thursday!

Though just curious for the Zeta, does the ankle armor over the feet move much? Also damn I'm liking the TN Banshee Norn, more than I thought I would.
>>
>>4521176
They move a bit, but the real gem of the feet is the fact that they're on a joint that pulls down and out a bit. I'm a big fan of it, it gives them a lot of range and it is hard to find a pose that it can't stand up just fine in, other than just ridiculous shit that nothing reasonable would stand.

Like the other people in the thread, I really enjoy my RD Zeta, can't wait for the MkII and Hyaku Shiki. (announcement soon please)
>>
>>4520606
No Waverider mode, though?

I find it odd, since the Wing, Wing Zero, and Epyon had their MA modes. Granted the Waverider is a little more complicated, but not that much more so.
>>
>>4521240
>Granted the Waverider is a little more complicated, but not that much more so.

I take it you haven't built any model kit of the Zeta then.

Shit's 5x more complex than any of the Wing transformations.
>>
>>4521255
I built the old MG like a decade ago. I have the EMSIA as well. Wing transformations are pathetically simple, yeah (flip torso over, attach shield), but the Zeta's transformations isn't like a Getter's transformation. Just flip up the cockpit, tuck arms and head in, rotate wings, contort the legs, attach shield.
>>
>>4521268
>but the Zeta's transformations isn't like a Getter's transformation.

That's because the Getter morphs rather than transforms.

The Zeta is not complex because of what moves, it's because of what is needed to fold out to hold out in place, which are many small/tiny pegs that flip out. Both the figures you mentioned are floppy messes in wavereider with funky proportions in robot mode. Build the 2.0 MG, the PG, and the RG, and you will understand why Bandai can't go that route on an RD.
>>
>>4521240
Does it really matter? The waverider mode is really ugly.

Crossbone X-2 was the one I was looking forward to, but easily Dragonar-1 Custom is the hit out of the two for me. Just way too easy to pick up and play with. With solid joints, and near flawless paint apps; gotta ask the middleman if his local shop has a vacant order spot for Dragonar-2 open still.

>>4521222
Thanks for the clarification. Waiting on Bluefin stock again this time for it, but will be looking forward to that release.
Very much looking forward to the Mk. II as well, the [Titans] colour especially; but just a bit more waiting now I hope till an announcement.

I ordered this guy and I want to give it some hand held firearms without buying another robot damashii, what should I look for?

are hg gunpla weapons compatible? I've also heard about the kotobukiya weapon parts, but I have no idea really.
>>
>>4521604

RDs use soft plastic hands, so if it fits, it works.

As for that, I believe Acer-anon has it it. From the looks of it, a solid figure and particularly excellent all around.
>>
>>4512219

Yea so the pearl gloss version was kinda a let down : / Isn't as shiny or glossy as I thought it was and some of the paint job feels sloppy (although this is my first RD and I understand that they're not perfectly painted). My biggest beef is with the Pyschoframe and how it's thin in some areas (unless this is intentional).

Has anyone painted an RD? Thinking about touching up some areas and re painting parts of the psychoframe. Also the nubs on this thing are killing me I want to fix them. Thinking about getting some plastic putty or something.
tfw I feel like should've just gotten the regular Unicorn Destroy mode and Unicorn
>>
>>4521682
Plus the gloss doesn't look like pearl to me...
Feels more like someone applied some glittery topcoat to it or something.
>>
>>4521682
>My biggest beef is with the Pyschoframe and how it's thin in some areas

It has an iridescent finish that makes it appear green or grey depending on how the light hits it. Sure that's not what you're seeing?

Also the finish is definitely shinier than the bare plastic of standard RDs. And it has glitter in it. It looks great IMO.

With how particular you are it sounds like you should just get a model kit.
>>
>>4521703
Alright maybe it'll look better once my other one comes in the mail for comparison.

I'm pretty sure it's just a bad paint job because I've looked at it in all angles and it just looks like they missed a spot and it looks silver.

I know but I already have a few and I like how the RDs are prebuilt and more durable and articulate most of the time. Plus I figured I'd get RD Unicorns since they don't have much detail.

Idk maybe it'll grow on me.

Still has anyone painted an RD before? I wanted to paint it a bit anyways.
>>
>>4521718

You're just going to have to do a lot of masking since most of RDs can't be disassembled, but I certainly wouldn't advise against it. I'd, however, advise you to buy a cheap unit instead of an expensive one. Probably something like the rerelease Unicorn Destroy Mode compatible with full armor.

What To Get.jpg

Hey RD Folks. I Saw the 00 Gundam Seven Swords edition is up for pre-order again. Coincidentally the 00 quan[T] is getting a re-release this november. Both kind of have my interest. I am mainly an UC guy and I didn't care much for season 2 MSG00 designs, but these two seem really cool(especially with the accessories).
On the other hand, the V-Dash set for February looks pretty neat too. It's a shame it doesn't have all the extra's the Hex option parts offer, but since I don't have the Victory 1 RD it seems like a good offer. So this RD has my interest too. I also cared a lot more for the Victory series than the 00 Series.

The problem however, is that I can only afford one. So I'd like to ask you guys for your opinion. I've seen the reviews on YT, but according to those you should just get all the RD's one can get. Haven't seen any really negative reviews thusfar. Which would be the better bang for my buck according to you guys?
>>
>>4522353

Based on my own personal experiences with both and preferences, both the Seven Swords 00 and V-Dash would serve you well. The 00 has more accessories and therefore possibilities by far, while the V-Dash is a bit more modern, a bit more posable, and probably has several buddies to go with it coming down the line while the 00 line is pretty much done with.

So I guess what I'm saying is go for the V-Dash.
>>
>>4522507
I have two V Gundams and two V dash packs with the Hexa heads. Overall if you are a great fan of the V Gundam and want a look that is unobstructed by a transformation gimmick, then this is the best one. It is the best alternative to the original skinny 1993 1/144 model kit. The more up to date HGUC kit is a bit fatter.

If the Gun-EZ is released, I will get 6 of them.
>>
>>4522353
ELS Qan[T]

Out of those, Seven Swords
>>

>>4523100

Yeah considering that price, nope.jpg I also like the weapons the original comes with more. The sleek design of the ELS is pretty nice though.

I need a robot spirits gundam what's a good currently available one to get I've never had one before
>>
>>4524013
As someone who recently started collecting them (only have 3 right now, more to come) my suggestion would be very limited. If you have a prefference for a specific Gundam series than I would suggest going with one of the RD's that belong to that series. Although I only own 3 I have not been disappointed in the quality yet.

If you don't have any preference for a series I would suggest either the Nu Gundam or the Sinanju. I believe the majority of RD general finds these two pretty good and I am sure as hell loving them.
>>
>>4524013

The GM Sniper II is a great one to start with. Cheap, and has excellent articulation.

I second this. I started with it myself about 4 years ago, and it's a perfect figure. Just be careful with the beam saber hilts. They tend to fall off easily when attached to their charging rack located below the backpack.

Another type of engineering plastic that is a tier above ABS in durability and hardness. Often used in plastic gears or even used to replace metal components. It's hard to paint, though.

Most of the grey parts you see in RDs are made of POM.
>>
>>4527356
RDs stopped listing POM like three years ago.
>>
>>4527388
Yeah it seems like they stopped around Buster Gundam in 2012. Was POM no longer used or just not listed?

It makes you wonder why they would use diecast joints when POM was already overkill. Guess it's purely due to diecast's heft and hype-factor.

The 00 Gundams are all pretty good.

You may want to get Arios Ascalon and Cherudim Saga, they were both given new hinges at the wrist to improve their movement range. (see pic)

Seravee's GN Bazooka cannons are kinda annoying because of their size. Had to hold and don't stay together well.

For some reason, my Ribbon's gundam and Cherudim Gundam(normal) have a tint of red discoloration on their white PVC parts. I bought both long after their release in damaged packaging at clearance prices.
>>

Were they like that when you got them or after? Mine were probably stuck in the distributor's stuffy warehouse for like 2~3 years.

Oh and GN archer is decent/cute/hotglueable but it's combination with Arios is done loosely via an extra connection part.

Their docking mechanism was anime magic in the show anyway, much like Legioss & Tread from Mospeda.

Thanks. I think I'll get Qan [T] first since it's released in November(or restocked). Sucks how it doesn't come with a stand - what's the deal with this?!
Will a regular Tamashii Stage Act suffice or should I invest in an Action Base? If so, which one is better - 1 or 2? Also can't decide on what color I should get. Clear blue/green would be nice and fitting sort of, but plain clear draws less attention to the stand which is what I normally go for.

Anyone have a Lightning base?

Just grab a pack of Stage Act 5s. You get 3 per box, and they handle anything but the beefiest of RDs like a champ. The only one I've had issues with is the Sazabi and that has to do with its stand hookup clip being an undersized piece of shit.

RDs are designed with Stage compatibility in mind, allowing RDs to be plugged directing into the stage via connection points on the figure itself or an included adapter. So as >>4528543 said Stages are the way to go. Act 5s are preferred because they have a strong ratcheting joint in the main arm which is better suited to securely supporting aerial poses.

Act 4s can still do a fine job with lighter, more basic RDs though, and I really like the smooth movement and double-length of the Act 4 arms. That is an Act 4 arm holding up the Denan Gei. For maximum utility though, Act 5s are the way to go for RDs, since as anon said they'll support nearly anything (and RDs they can't support will include their own stand, ie Kshatriya, Xi Gundam etc.).
>>

probably not because they are fucking jews
>>
>>4511161
Just another opinion, if you ever intend to own the Final Battle Banshee, it has the Heavy Paint scheme like the Unicorn. Posed, they look great together since they shimmer in the light and have a subtle greenish glow all over the armor. It's definitely something you have to see in person because no photo seems to really capture that.

I also own the Shield Funnel Unicorn, the green psychoframe is much more brilliant on this version, but the plain white plastic kinda stands out when you pose the two side-by-side.

I asked this before, but never got an answer: has anyone ever flatcoated their RDs, and if so, got any photos of it? I dislike the plasticky look of RDs, so I'd love to get a nice matte look on there.
>>
>>4530758
There's nothing wrong with the Gouf, except I think the fingers are a bit long on it. The open hands look real out of scale with the res of the body. But why do you need open hands when your can DUAL WIELD GATLING GUNS!?!?!
>>
>>4527104
Also I had to take a Dremel to mine to deepen the waist ball joint so it wouldn't have a waist gap.
>>
>>4524191
I really wish it had a machine gun in addition to the sniper rifle as well.
>>
>>4530885
The main selling point of the Gouf, the twin gatling gun shields, each compose of about 10 different pieces, and a fiddy as fuck. If you want to just display it on a shelf and leave if alone then it's a fine figure. If you want to move his arm even a tiny bit the guns are guaranteed to come apart in the most explosive way.
>>
>>4530890
and the sazabi head looks a bit smaller than it should, like beatlejuice. The hcm pro and emsia versions' heads look about right
>>
>>4530983
In today's Katoki-dominated mecha world, it's not unusual to see pinheads. I USUALLY don't think it looks that bad. And on mecha with sort of bulky proportions, like the Sazani, it's totally fine to me.
>>
I've been trying to count the mecha series which had 80%+ of their cast getting a Robot Damashii treatment. So far Gundam 00 s2 and Code Geass s2 are on the top followed by Full Metal Panic. The first two were mainly due to being released straight after the finish of their anime airing. Gundam 00 s1 had hardly anything except for Exia, GN Flag and the odd Alvaaron. Gundam Seed and Gundam Wing were only main cast focused, though a Taurus and Virgo are likely but the Tragos and the water ones are not.

Fafner and Eureka Seven also had a pretty large lineup.

L Gaim and Dunbine might be intended to be completed as they aren't affected by current airings.

Unicorn missed all the grunts and focused on the action oriented main cast. So I guess, recently Robot Damashii had been all over the place and mainly trying to release all the Gundam main characters, most likely in light of the video game Extreme VS.
>>
>>4531062
I am figuring this out because for some people, having a full or adequate cast of characters is important in a line as some people will only start to invest in a line if a certain combination of related characters are available, otherwise collecting them individually will have no meaning.
>>
>>4531048
i think part of the problem comes from the odd choice of long neck joint for the sazabi too, combined with the already small head it can look like a goose head.
>>
>>4530754

To anyone who owns the new Dragonar 1, could you look at something for me? I don't own it and before I do, because I'm so very anal, want to know if the setup for the pulldown hips is all POM on the inside. I just need you to peek inside and see where I can't in photos with a nice bright light. The picture shows where you'd look with the red marking.. It's inside the cavity, not the indent around it. Tell me if you see a break or something that shows a separate plastic.

A very brightly lit photo of the area would help really well too, actually.
