Grimskull (the undead good guy) is the next planned figure, and then Talyn (the unproduced sister). After that they hope to do the giant skeleton dragon. They also have some generic skeleton warriors planned.

"Hey gang,
so I just got a confirmation from China yesterday on the production schedule, we should be on target for an August drop, as I mentioned previously. Exact date will be announced by the end of this week.

This will be a Havvacor-themed drop, revolving around the tank but also sporting some PVC support troops. Quantities will be very limited the first time out, both the tank and the new price points being a little new for us here at the Banimon HQ. Basically want to make sure everything goes smoothly..."

OH NO.. i swear to god the voss and blue had better not be mixed. i will be SO pissed
>>
>>4326482
We haven't seen any signs that they will be mixed. Unless I'm mistaken, every time there were mixed figures Marty has shown them off in their mixed configuration. I don't think he's ever surprised us out of the blue or anything.

>>4326374
>>4326379
>>
>>4326509
No they're not, you need your eyes or monitor checked. The amount of color fluctuation you see there is completely normal for Neo Voss. The "bluish" tinge you see is the darkness behind it showing through. Also, given how Marty tends to mix parts, we know which parts would be swapped: thighs, biceps, horn, and chest gem. If nothing else, you can clearly see that the chest gem is the same color as the chest, can't you?

>>
>>4327594
I don't think this is that bad. Drops don't come that often. Even getting a lot of stuff this comes out being cheaper than collecting other stuff. I barely buy many glyos, only about a drop per year. I think you'll be fine.
>>
>>4327319

>>4327652
>I barely buy many glyos, only about a drop per year.
I...haven't really met many people like you. I don't even consider myself that huge of a Glyos fan, and my collection ain't even that big, but I haven't missed a drop in a long time. Granted, I don't always buy a lot in every drop, but I always find at least one or two things I want. I've noticed a lot of people in the community seem to match this sort of buying habits.
>>
>>4327771
Yeah, same,
at the very least ill usually buy a new cray or something.
>>
Glyos compatible releases have been nearly twice a month so far this year, no? I mean you have to consider that even if companies like callgrim and banimon sit things out for a while and only put out 1-2 releases a year You've still got 7 companies other than onell releasing glyos stuff.
>>
>>4328410
To be fair, all the other companies have only one main figure. Nistuff is the strongest right now because it's both figures and an accessory pack.
>>
>>4328509
What about spy monkey they have multiple figures and accessory packs
>>
>>4328509
No, Ni only has 1 full figure with heads and accessory packs.

>>4328562
All the figures are the same, the only difference is the head. Infact, all the lines are like this except for Power Lords and Outer Space Men have are the same figures with either different heads or different builds.

>>4334527
I got purple axis joints, an extra purple phase arm, and two bags of yellow heads-- one with Pheyden and Phanost, another with an LSA and an EE.
>>
>>4334925
No worries. Soon your fingers will strengthen up and you'll be READY. After months of pushing and pulling at Glyos (and some rough experiences with the older harder PVC Matt used to use) my fingers can now take anything.
>>
>>4334940
Are current parts different consistencies depending on color? The purple pieces I got seem to have a lot less give when pushing other pieces in than the yellow and blue.
>>
>>4334961
Not noticeably, at least in my opinion. I've bought stuff in pretty much every drop for the last two years or so and the PVC all feels about the same to me. Older stuff is dramatically harder, you can sometimes even hear "clicks" when pieces pop together.
>>
>usps site says item has been delivered an hour ago

>>
>>4335998
And Vision and maybe Hawkeye? behind Wolverine and Spidey
>>
>>4335292
Well, been trying to deal with this issue with the post office all day. They kept telling me that I should double check my mail.. Nigga, I walked around all outside my house to make sure it didn't get blown away or placed somewhere odd. They told me to wait around today, but the mail already came today. So, they took my information and will have the manager talk to the person who did deliveries on my route and then they'll call me. I don't understand how tough it must be to put packages with the right address. There is literally no thinking required. It is all matching the address with the address on the house. And today, in the mail, we even got someone else's mail... Jesus.

At least the guys from Onell have been amazing. I've been keeping them updated with the issue, and they aren't hesitating to send me another set of the glyos that I ordered, but I don't want the postal-services screw up to cost Onell.
>>
>>4336293
While I agree that the vinyl can usually take a little man handling, IIRC the first run of Rigs had really tight sockets and you had to be careful not to tear the arms when swapping parts.
>>
>>4336864
Can't argue that since I wasn't around during that time.
Though I do have a nice collection of older vinyl, I don't ever disassemble it since there really isn't a point.
>>
I love Matt & Glyos, but I'll be honest here (don't want to shit on the forum)...I'm super unimpressed with the Super Crayboth. To be fair, I wasn't enamored with it just seeing the pictures, but figured I'd order one just to check it out.

I miss not having the articulation found on the Armodoc...6 pieces instead of 11. I understand costs have risen since the Armodoc tooling was initially set up, but I just can't get into this Super Cray mold at the same price as the Armodoc.

I do like the fact that the Cray can hold a traveler in it's hand...that's a nice touch. But, overall I just am not feeling this mold. It doesn't have the really clean aesthetic that so much of Matt's work has.

Negatives:
- Price (when compared to the Armodoc)
- Unarticulated head, hands, feet
- The aesthetic doesn't fit with the rest of the Onell line (IMO)
- New middle-sized waist connection doesn't allow for as much swapping with other existing Onell vinyl pieces

Positives:
- Hand can hold a smaller figure
>>
>>4337276
I am mostly in agreement with this. I also had the vinyl rip on me in the arm and have never had an issue with this. I own hundreds of pieces of glyos vinyl and the both, while looking fantastic, let me down in both the quality and the glyos compatibility aspect of the toy. The other glyos vinyl all swaps so well with everything, whereas the 'both arms look ridiculous on an Armodoc.
>>
>>4337437
Im gonna need some pics of this vinyl ripping.
>>
>>4337444
Mine did as well, I think the area around joint that connects the arm to the torso is just too thin.

Matt did say he would ship out a replacement.

>>
>>4337495
I've been lurking like I always am.

At this time I'm going to choose to leave it out of the guide since it isn't really something that newcomers need to know in order to better understand Glyos.
It's a 101 guide for people who are new to Glyos.
It doesn't need to document every single thing about Glyos, homie.

[spoiler]and stop calling me Luka, I changed my forum name ages ago, b-baka[/spoilerson/toy/]
>>
>>4337276
It's not really like the Armodoc has a lot on the Super Cray. Swivel elbows and ankles, and a swivel neck (heck, the Super Cray doesn't even have a neck by design).

Also, which one did you buy? If you have a pink and want to get rid of it, I might have some stuff to trade for it.
>>
Im just sayin, it feels like its worth noting "first run had durability issues"
>>
>>4338355
>>4337495

Not sure a single tear equals "durability issues."

We have only seen a single photo and who knows the situation that caused that. Just because clowns say their's ripped too, without photos of the "others' " we have only seen one and that would mean that less than 1% ripped. Hardly a "durability issue."

If you want that added to the guide, you might as well add that the Outlander for the first year couldn't stand straight and had to be hunched over to stand because of design flaws and then new ankle wedge parts were made to try to correct the flaw.

I am sure we could do that with every toy made by any company whether it be Mattel, Hasbro, Onell Design, etc.

>>
>>4338650

I thought about it but have decided against it, I've been hooked up in the past and wouldn't be swapping it much to begin with. Just hope any issues are fixed for future releases.
>>
>>4337276
To each their own. I love the Super Cray and think the limited articulation adds to the play value. It works well as a standalone toy, versus the sometimes overly-complicated Rig/Block builds and the Armodoc (which feels a little too fiddly to me now). It's a chunky, miniature Lovecraft monster, and it looks great with the other vinyl kaiju that my Glyos were already battling.
>>
I got my package today, my order was kind of small since I wasn't sure I'd like the crayhunter colors, I had only ordered a moredireus super crayboth, 6 normal crays in assorted colors and a LSA soldier. My package had an extra glyan crayhunter reverse thrown in, the redorange pretty much looks orange in the lighting of my room though.

I've been wanting to collect toys for a while and I was thinking about starting here. Are gylos a good toy line to start with?
>>
>>4341549
Yeah, probably. Relatively cheap, a lot of fun (imo), and easy to resell if you're not into it.
>>
>>4341549
What made you curious to start here, of all toylines?
Did you stumble into /toy/ or did something else influence you to think about toy collecting?

Also to answer your question, Glyos are a great toyline to start.
I would say that the only reason it would be bad is that once you start here, you'll be spoiled and won't be as interested in more mainstream toylines like stuff from Habro and Mattel.

Keep us updated on your thoughts, refer to the guide to give you a good idea on if you like everything you see/read, and finally, don't hesitate to ask us any questions you have regarding Glyos.
We take pride in spoonfeeding noobies any info they need!
>>
>>4341791
Another good thing. They're easy to store. I have an assload that I'm not displaying and that all fit a small plastic container. And the PVC is crazy durable. You could let a small child play with them and they'd be fine.
>>
>>4341928
Oh and don't just limit yourself to the Onell stuff, of course. I particularly love the Nistuff Outlanders. And I was dubious of the Kabutos Mushis until I finally bought some; they're awesome. Although I prefer alternate builds to their main one. Roboforce, I'm not so crazy about, but they're okay, too.
>>
>>4341791
The anime ninderoids and figmas were nice, but I don't watch enough anime or am I willing to spend all the extra money for the good retires figures. Things like old toys, barbies, ect. aren't up my alley because they're not nostalgic for me, I want something appealing to look at and fun to collect without spending a ton of money. Although i'm not 100% on starting with glyos, I do know that they're something I'm really interested in. I also like the idea of the toys requiring assembly and or having interchangeable parts. What caught my attention to this thread was the crayboths in the OP because of how cool they looked compared to the other stuff on /toy/.

>>
I dont get glyos.

If any other toy line released the say set of figures over and over in different colors, people would call bullshit right away.

Glyos releases the same figures in different colors and you people eat it up. What gives?
>>
>>4344204
Every additional figure is another $2 despite still being in the same box, so eventually you'd hit a tipping point where you've paid for another figure just in shipping.
>>
>>4344224
i think its mainly because oyu can swap out the parts, and each figure is made by a small amount of people so its easier to forgive recolors, since molds are expensive as fuck
>>
>>4344224
"Q: These are great and all, but the drop had nothing but recolors of sculpts that already exist. When will I see a new sculpt?

A: If you are expecting something new sculpt-wise every drop, then Glyos may not be for you. Drops consist of new colorways of already existing sculpts. Remember these are independent companies and those steel molds for the new sculpts cost major cheddar."
>>
>>4344224
Your fucking stupid. Sure they are different colors but they can build totally different characters and in the case of godbeast's kabutomushi looks like there are two new character builds and they do look completely different than his kabutomushi.
>>
>>4344228
No, godbeast does NOT charge an additional $2 shipping per figure. He has shipped all my orders up to 6 figures in one box for only $6.25 domestic priority. Looks like we have a troll trying to pass on false information again.
>>
>>4344221
Me neither, but that would be sweet.

>>4344224
Glyos sort of falls in between a collectibles line and a building block line. Thereare charcters and sometimes people just want to collectthe different colorbways, but sometimes you want the pieces. I mean you don't complain about different colors of the same lego blocks right?

>>4344224
If you try to think of Glyos like a standard action figure line, of course it seems absurd. But Glyos is a building block toyline at heart. Think of it like Lego. Do people complain because a brick exists in 100 different colors? New colors let you put a new spin on old builds, or finally recreate your favorite character in Glyos form. Plus there's admittedly something joyously addictive about getting your favorite mold in a really bitchin color. I feel like if nothing else, Glyos really taught me to appreciate color in a whole new way.

Besides, it's not just the same old figures over and over, that would inevitably get stale after a while. Matt keeps things fresh by adding new characters or joint types every so often, and there's a burgeoning "third party" scene that use Matt's joint system and allow for even more expansive builds.
>>
>>4344255
Yeah but, not every lego set contains the same 14 parts every time.

I get it, its a small company, they cant afford to do a new mold every time, im not arguing that they should. What im saying, is that I dont understand as a collector, why you need the same figure in 15 different colors.

I get the building aspect of it, having axis joints, and swing joints and such in different colors, but it seems like the figures would have more appeal if they were released less often, but with better paint apps.
>>
>>4344261
You should leave if you are just going to act like an ass.
>>
>>4344269
ah yeah that makes sense, i dont mind buying the same one in different colors since i dont really buy a lot
I think most people tend to buy a bunch of colors so they just use that route to make money, while oyur method might be more risky
>>
>>4344269
These are all fair points. Glyos is definitely not for everyone and I totally didn't get it until I bought some. I actually don't care for Onell's "Travelers" very much and buy pretty much none of them. I'm drfinitely more of a I need those pieces kind of guy.
>>
>>4344269
>it seems like the figures would have more appeal if they were released less often, but with better paint apps.
I think this would really only appeal to people who want to stick these things on their shelf and leave them there. AKA a pretty small portion of Glyos fans. And by the way, as a builder, I am AGAINST more paint apps (which Matt has been trying lately). They drive up costs, they overcomplicate the look of the figures, and they make building weird sometimes since pieces are painted in pre-detemined colors so you sometimes end up with unwanted colors in your build. I liked things the way they were, with relatively few paint apps.
>>
>>4344281
>I totally didn't get it until I bought some
THIS, SO MUCH THIS.

I've watched Glyos nearly since it began production, and for many years, I didn't really understand it. I was a pretty standard /toy/ soldier, prizing articulation and posing my SHFs and Marvel Legends. As an articulation junkie, I couldn't understand why people were buying these crappily articulated little figures. One day I had some extra money, and a drop happened to be going on that day, so I just decided fuck it, I'll give it a shot. And it's just been non-stop since then. There's an enjoyability to this line, at least for me, that's difficult to describe. I don't even necessarily need to be building, I'll just keep some Travelers and Glyans on my desk to mess with or even slip a Cray into my pocket to fiddle with while I work. It hearkens back to my 80s childhood in many ways, and really reminds me of the sensation of playing with toys from that era.
>>
>>4344292
>I don't even necessarily need to be building, I'll just keep some Travelers and Glyans on my desk to mess with or even slip a Cray into my pocket to fiddle with while I work.

Yep, I frequently carry one around with me and I have no idea what compels me to do this. I want to bring them with me places.

And with little effort you can get great articulation and a great looking figure.
>>

You sir, sound like someone who would have liked the old days.
>>
>>4344224
It's in the same vein of all indie toys "I have this figure, but I don't have it in this color" or "I'd like to have this figure in this color".

Alternatively, it's like Lego Minifigures, at the core, they are the same toy, just with different things.

Matt is currently trying to do the best of both worlds by offering a large selection of figures in plain colors for one drop and then following up with a smaller drop that features just a few figures with detail lines and special paint apps.

Frankly, I've been spending less on the "building" drops and more on these little "deluxe" figure drops. Go pick up a Lost Sincroid Army figure while there are still a few in stock...great stand-alone figure!

just a heads up, niggers.
a forum user on OTF is listing handfuls of misc. parts from lines throughout history.
it sounds like I'm shilling, but they're pretty fucking cheap for what you get.
go over to the issaris marketplace to find the user.
>>
>>4350022
I don't think they're cheap at all...that's why only one person has responded. glyOG never gives anything away cheap.
>>
>>4350204
He makes it seem like a deal but the fact that its random allows for a lot of shoveling crap onto other people.
>>
>>4350204
>>4350208
say what you guys will, but I personally love fistful sales.
fistfuls are a kind of oldfag thing since Matt used to sell handfuls of random parts in his store.
nowadays, everybody has a need to keep their figures complete so nobody really trades parts of seta anymore.
and he'll I think the last time I bought fistfuls, they were 20 a pop.
I bought 2 large handfuls this time so I'll have lots of color mismatched goodness.
>>
>>4350204
It's not too bad, to be honest. It's about in line with what other people have offered in handful-style sales. If you subtract the $3 for shipping, he's offering a small handful for $10, a big handful for $15, and a big handful with two rare/special parts for $22. That's pretty standard pricing for handfuls. And I can already see that some of the "rare" heads he's offering are worth a lot more than their distributed cost ($3.50 apiece).

>>4350208
Again, "handful" sales are kind of a tradition on OTF. It's always a roll of the dice what you get. I know people love to demonize GlyOG, but he did not invent this type of sale, and his prices are relatively fair for this sort of thing.
>>
>>4350229
I like the concept, but its not for me.
Post pics when you get em!
>>
>>4350229
This. Handful sales are also a great way to obtain rare parts or colors for building, or to start slowly building rare figures that you cannot find for sale on the aftermarket. Believe it or not, I am almost done building one of my most-wanted figures (Core Phanost) just from parts I got from handful sales! It also gives you a nice little surprise to look forward to. Like >>4350229 said, most people keep their figures complete these days so there's no surprise in the aftermarket. Buying handfuls brings back good memories of when the Junk Shop was alive.
>>
>>4350241
hell yea.
my only gripe about the dice rolling is I've almost always gotten a million heads and gobon balls each time I bought.
>>
>>4350231
I don't recognize any parts at all
>>
>>4350267
then a fistful should be fun as fuck for you.
I wish people over in the trade threads like setting up things in the junkyard trading post more.
>>
>>4350276
So just a small bag? I'm kind of tempted to get a large bag.
>>
>>4350299
a large bag is only 5 bucks more so I couldn't resist picking up two of them.
I'm not huge on custom heads so I didn't figure I needed to throw that kind of money down.
but at least if you don't like the idea of fistfuls once you get yours in the mail, it's not like they won't have trade value.
>>
>>4350362
It's my first blind bag, so I think I'll just get one big bag.
>>
>>4350371
hell yea.
bonus points are if you're a boardie, the part swap thread always gets a lot of posts a week after everybody's parts start arriving, so trading parts is always fun.

vinyl glyos figures like armodoc, the rig, and the new super crayboth are nice to have for display pieces, but I personally haven't gotten into the building aspect of the vinyl because building with stuff like blocks and tri-hubs requires you to cut into the vinyl to make more connections for the pegs/switch pins which I don't feel comfortable doing. also outside of tri-hubs and switch pins the vinyl pieces are kind of expensive.

I like the base idea behind Glyos, but I hate the puffy Michelin Man aesthetics of everything, and I hate how a cheap toy is sold for a fortune because it's under the guise of some high-end nerd art.

I'll wait for a company to rip off the basic idea and sell their line at Dollar General someday.

Also

>buy up cheap rights to old toy

Toy collectors can be as fanatical as a religious extremist group, over stuff that's just as dumb.

there are only a few figs like that really though, mostly the CC stuff from the first few years. it's really more of a buy and build line now. look at the last year alone, way more figures being produced, very few paint apps to keep prices down, ect.

Sales were strong and IF orders are steay the next few weeks, I have a SUPER SPECIAL DX Kabuto Mushi planned for my October release. This DX figure will have a total of 30 paint apps and ALL the detail lines factory painted!!! This DX figure will require me to purchase additional paint masks, but, it will be worth it! The finished factory DX Kabuto Mushi won't be a wallet buster.

October's release will be 1 SUPER DX figure and possibly 1 more regular figure.

i bought a kabuto mushi from ebay and it was missing the horn, told the guy about it but he said that he mailed it for sure, i wonder if it is possible it came out of the package during transit?

Sucks for you if you're buying second hand. You can try looking through the packaging, but ultimately, you have to accept it's gone.

ah yeah, i was just wondering if anyone else had similar experiences.
next time ill buy the mushi direct for sure

It might be the seller being a dick, but most people on eBay do their best not to be.

>Second round of testing for my Glyan vinyl punch. Bit more tweaking needed yet before production but it's getting close.

Vinyls are too hard to come by for someone either starting or casual, not to mention they don't sit in shops long enough either. I wouldn't want to buy a Vinyl hole punch I'd use for one drop. Maybe rent one though.

Thats made out of all metal 0.0

that think must cost at least $40

Yeah, I'd just rent one or do my best with an X-acto knife

Pictures of the Rig Crew have started showing up on the blog. Get ready for chocolatey goodness, Glyos style.
