He is the most consistent rider in the world. The green jersey isn't about winning stages, it's about consistently picking up points.

replaced my old alloy Easton stem and bar with a carbon fiber 3T stem and internally-routed bars, was a chore to do but it's complete and looks great, and obviously avoided at least a $100 fix that a mechanic wouls have charged. What upgrades are you all thinking about doing fàms?

It's a chinese rockbros copy. I put it in that hipster place on the steerer to see how it looked and the hex bolt that holds it in place stripped itself so it's staying there until I take the bars/stem off.

I did a 5 day tour around the Netherlands earlier in the year on my road bike before I bought the all-city. fixed a rack on with p-clips and it was fine. The all-city is really versatile though and i can just use my road bike for going fast.

Move in for cars, you're only a faggot if you're in one of those cycling groups that think they own the road.
>>
>>69522136

If you're /fit/ enough, do it. There are plenty budget options for road bikes and gear, especially if you look for older generation bikes and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty. As for the danger side, just google a bit around your area and look for what roads are less used and what not. Even riding in the city can be real safe if you're not like one of those morons cutting red lights and zigzagging traffic. Keep to the right side, follow traffic lights, and you can ride pretty damn safely. Also make sure you have night lights.

Also this reminds me. Lads, I need to know if I'm the strange one here, but cyclists blinking their back, and even fucking front lights piss me off to no end. Am I the only one? For front lights, of course, you can't see shit, but my biggest bone with back lights is that they piss me the fuck off whenever I ride behind someone with one.

Riding

I go for comfy sportive rides in the afternoon,to exercise and have fun. I go into the mountains through regional roads. Its feels pretty good. I use strava to mark my rides and then share them on facebook and my female friends go insane because according to Strava,a 2 ride burns arround 1 300 kcal. It is a slow bike, tho. My fastest speed ins 56.6 km/h and it was on downhill. But i usually go uphill because its a mountanious island.

The frame/geo is what you'd expect from a track bike - twitchy, short wheelbase so a bit harsh over bumps. Hard to evaluate the ride since the wheelset is crap, that's my next upgrade. Replaced the brakes and stem out of preference, the freewheel that came with it was kill from the start though.

Cycling is a super eurocentric sport and there's really no space on the calendar for another race at the grand tour scale.

The Tour of California has been gaining profile in the last few years, but there's only so many places you can with just over a week.

>tfw no tour of new zealand

That place has the best fucking scenery, and sweet mountains to boot.

Seems pretty solid. Mine is pic related. Its arround 15 cm. But i dont really understand how it works. It seems to be on " reverse". To close the air i think i have to pull that black lever up,when it should be otherwise. It also seems to insert the air into the tyre when i'm pulling out the pulling part. It's really weird. I think i should buy a new one on ebay.
>>

No, that is right. Mine has pretty much the same system, and you pull that thing up to lock it, then after you're done, push it back down.

I don't think it's huge, overall. Christchurch has been making a concerted effort to be more cycling friendly after the quakes, which is nice.

But along with australia they're one of the few countries dumb enough to mandate helmet use.

Stage 9 in the Pyrenees was such a hard stage, everyone was just fucked. We hit that Category 2 climb [Côte de la Comella], and there was more gruppetto than normal. Fabian Cancellara [Trek-Segafredo] was there, it was his first time in the gruppetto at this Tour, and of course he wants to control it. He was telling everyone “just slow down,” and it was like, dude, we don’t have that much time. We have 37 minutes to get to the finish. We can’t slow down. Then he wants to speed up, and then he’s going too hard.

Then Matti Breschel [Cannondale-Drapac] comes up to him and told him “Slow down, you idiot, we don’t need to go this hard.” This is in the last 5km, and we had 20 minutes, so we knew we were good. And Cancellara still wants to be a hero on the front. Breschel just exploded, threw his bottle on the ground, then threw his glasses. I’ve never seen Breschel like that.

I commute on what most would say is an expensive bike. I've got a 12 km commute and the time difference between a bike and car is negligible. Obviously showering and changing clothes does take some extra time but it's totally worth it. You properly wake up on the ride to work and after showering you're all fresh and set for work.

As a bonus my employer pays extra money for those that commute on a bike. So not only do I save money on fuel I get paid, albeit practically nothing, for riding my bike.
>>
>>69522714

Ha, yeah. Just left the zip tie there so I wouldn't lose it but it's easier to keep it in the bag. Besides, the only spot left on the bike is on the front fork which is an awkward place for a pump.
>>
>pinot
>>
>Pinot
>>
>>69522749
>the only spot left on the bike is on the front fork
What do you use the other spots for? It must be a lot of things, for having them all busy
>>
>>69522653
Mandatory helmet laws make people ride less. Which means less bikes on the road. The more cyclists there are the fewer people use cars and the ones that use cars are more used to cyclists. So more cyclists means cycling is safer for everyone.

I personally wear a helmet whenever I ride. I feel naked without one and use one for even casual riding around town. But if you or someone else wants to ride without one it doesn't matter to me.
>>
>>69522780

Not really, only have one spot, and have the bottle there. For a second bottle, had to add a holder on top of the handlebar. Bit awkward, but it does the job.
>>
>>69522749
i have mine on my seat tube with a bottle cage over the top of it >>69522029 The pump is on the other side in this pic so you can't see it too well but there's plenty of space to hold them on the same bosses.
>>
>>69522807

No support on the seat tube, but didn't really consider putting it under the bottle holder either.
>>
>there are cyclists in /tdf/ who don't carry CO2 pump and cartridges with them
>>
>>69522749
You can actually put it under the down/seat tube bottle holder. Sometimes you might need longer screws.
That's what those holes are for, the pump will seat nicely on the side of the bottle.
>>
>>69522862

For what purpose? Manual does it's job well enough.
>>
>>69522862
