Decades of coddling mediocrity in both national and international settings. Truth is that our players are treated like european superstars that can do no wrong when in fact they are garbage or just plain too old. It's the reason why we had cunts like Cuauhtemoc Blanco playing full games a decade after they should have retired instead of letting him become a penalty specialist or something.
In the past people used to say "b-but they play mostly in concacaf and there they are great!" or "they can't train against better teams!" but that's bullshit. Mexican players at home and abroad are lazy because no matter what the fuck they do they'll still get paid a shitload of money. They'll still appear in TV ads all over the place, everyday products will have their dumb faces plastered over them and whenever they show even a LITTLE BIT of game, a million fans will tear their shirts apart for them; they will hoot and holler all through the night because the team showed "garra" or "entrega" or some other horseshit.
There's some truth to the fact that the country doesn't really have the extensive youth or training programs that other countries have but that's just cause we are happy to let the administration line up their pockets instead of investing in the sport. It's just a mountain of shit from top to bottom and people here are happy paying top dollar to wallow in it.
