Why do you favor parity over quality?
I'd rather have a few teams that are able to win but demonstrate a higher level of technical and tactical ability. After all I'm watching to be entertained and enlightened.
More parity would mean the best players are spread more thinly and likely teamed up with inferior players who restrain their brilliance. Imagine Messi frustratedly trying to make plays for guys who just don't have the nous to make the right runs or control the ball.
All the big records would stand forever as none of the star players would have the support to surpass them.
