That's a long time. UNT had 4 conference titles in a row 2001-04, Rice has a CUSA title as recently as 2013, UTEP has a national title in basketball, FAU was also a conference winner and has just finished rebuilding.

Like I said, they don't think Houston, etc. will give them a larger market share. Its all so they can look more attractive when they sign deals with Espn and Fox and so they can siphon recruits from places that aren't Texas. This wouldn't be so much the case if the Big 12 was as desperate as it used to be, but since the NCAA allows them to have a conference championship with 10 teams now, the need for 12 teams is lessened. Not to mention the Big 12 was actually in the cfp last year. Also splitting money between 10 teams leaves more than splitting it with 12 as per the current ESPN deal. Personally I just want 2 quality additions to the big 12 so I don't have to deal with the shitposting about the """"Big"""" 12-2. Instead everyone can focus on the Big 12 """"defenses""""
