Why don't teams do this?
Because it makes you think
>>68929825
you arent allowed to shield the ball
the same reason david luiz cant make a basket out of his afro and carry the ball into the teams goal
>>68929825
even if the rules allowed it as a strategy, what would the circle of people do when they reached a defender standing in their way? defender isn't moving, the guy in the circle is. circle guy has to push the defender out of the way to keep going, which would be a foul.
>>68929825
This is why you Latvia never attend to any major tournament
Because the guys in the circle protecting him can't do anything to stop the guys running thru them stealing the ball, and winning the game 30-0
>>68929825
it only works in cartoons
>>68929845
Poland confirmed for 2 brain cells still
>>68929825
It's called obstruction, and it's illegal.
In a recent Euro game (can't remember which) a player took the ball to the corner flag to waste time, then his teammate came and stood behind him blocking an opposition player from having a chance of stealing the ball. The referee immediately blew his whistle for a foul.

>>68929825
why wouldn't other team form another circle around them?
you ween just need players with wider arms, wider arms = GOAT in this style of play
>>68929825
>people sprint around the back and the offense eventually fouls someone trying to form an impenetrable wall
that is basically what is done on running plays in football and all of rugby though
Why doesn't a team just throw everyone minus 2 or 3 defenders when a team is parking the bus? Since they're parking the bus just play hoofball until you make a header. The 3 defenders could just play deep as hell and the team parking the bus would only get 2 max 3 people behind the ball that far before being tired and running into 3 defenders. You can't lose.

I want /a/ to leave
>>68929873
Pretty much this. You can defend the circle just as you would a super giant player.

GOAT cartoon tbqh

>It's called obstruction, and it's illegal.
Where is the line drawn for obstruction exactly? Isn't the rule that you can't go for players who are not in possesion of the ball?
What about defending for corners then? You are directly trying to interfer with a guy who do not possess the ball
>>68929825
Legend has it there is growing one huge, sweeet potato under the middle point.
It's called obstruction, my friend.
>>68929998
why are poles a niggers in that cartoon
>>68930712
The game was Italy Sweden, look it up. The guy in the corner had the ball (Zaza), while Parolo (I think) was covering him. By doing that, he was blocking any other player from going for the ball, which is a clear foul.
Football really is a game of moments, you can't really give a definition of every rule since most of the times the ref has to decide on his own wheter it was obstruction or not
>>68929851
wow that would be supercool
>>68931658
Yeah, also Chiellini could hide the ball in his nose
>>68930712
You're allowed to block someone when you're both trying to get to a ball. Corners and such fall under that.
>>68929825
How would they dive for a penalty if the opposing players can't reach them?
>>68929998
Reeeee
How can I watch webms on an iPhone?
>>68932016
>buying an iPhone
You only have yourself to blame.
>>68929873
same thing except the whole circle moves around the defender, and if the defender still tries to get in the way, he'd have to run into you aka interference on his behalf
