When it comes to local market ratings, NBA actually does worse than NFL, MLB, and even NHL. It's just that a ton of nignogs in other parts of the country bandwagon teams. It happens with other sports, but anywhere near the level it does with basketball. It's why they're by far the worst fans.
>>
Football will dominate the USA some day. Let's look at its rivals:

>Baseball
Rapidly dying with the babyboomer generation. Boring sport, little interest from the current generation and only popular among old people and some minorities.
>Ice hockey
Will die out with global warming, the vast majority of the American populace will never even play a game of ice hockey so interest will stagnate.
>Handegg
Deeply flawed and fundamentally boring game. As more research regarding the detrimental impact on handegg on the brain and body gets published, the sport will be banned from high schools and interest will diminish rapidly.
>Basketball
Literally the only worthy competitor and only respectable sport. Will also keep growing but not as fast as football.

Now let's look at football:
>most popular sport worldwide
>Loved by Hispanics, biggest minority
>Easy to play and simple to get in to
>Kid-friendly and woman-friendly unlike handegg
>with increasing globalisation exposure to football will increase
>as the US starts becoming better, interest will increase

>>
>>68742522

Why do apehoop fans use national TV ratings for the NBA Finals as "proof" that the NBA is more popular than the MLB?

Most people didn't tune in to watch basketball for these NBA Finals, they tuned in to watch Curry and Lebron and see if Cleveland could break its 52 year curse.

Also, 30.8 million. Lol.

You had the two faces of the sport squaring off in a close game 7 backed by the Cleveland curse storyline, and it only drew 30.8 million.

The last World Series game 7 in 2014 drew 23 million. And that was a game between 2 small market teams, no storylines, no big stars. If the Cubs were to play a game 7 against the Yankees, it would easily break 30.8 million.

Really, any NBA game that doesn't feature Lebron, Curry, or the Lakers doesn't draw flies.

Also, regular season baseball beats the NBA playoffs in local markets, meaning the guy in New York is watching the Mets over Curry.
