I was watching the Portugal game yesterday. Taylor Twellman, an all-around idiot, pointed out something kind of funny and true: people always think that, when Ronaldo is on his game, Portugal are really good... but how often is Ronaldo playing well for his country? Answer is, not often.
Which is why Portugal, with the number 2 player in the world, is at best inconsistent, and at worst not doing much of anything on the international stage as a team. Ronaldo is often nowhere to be found, or has way less impact than expected on the game.
