Anyone else happy with this dude? A bunch of USA fans got butthurt about him over the last year or two. I feel like they are completely wrong.

USA soccer needs to give him all the tools and support. Take off all pressure and just let him do whatever he wants. USA team's best asset is not having a ton of pressure and being positive.

It's far better to have a relaxed atmosphere than something like England where it is like they have a ton of bricks around their necks.

USA soccer should give their managers long contracts, tons of time to build up, and no pressure. Overall Klinsmann has done good to develop US soccer and he does a lot of developmental stuff.

Haters need to fuck off, and everyone who used to hate him needs to apologize.

Kinsman pls go
>>
>>68402041
he's inconsistent and does some weird shit, and this cup has just further proven that point
>>
>>68402223
Who cares?

Why be like every other country with sandy vaginas who kick managers after every losing streak?

He's not the best manager ever, but giving him space and room is going to lead to better results than playing hot potato.
>>
If we make it out of group in Russia and don't lose to a meme team there is no grounds to fire him. This team literally plays better for what talent they have than any other country
>>
minimum results for him to be extended:

Reach the copa final
Qualify for Russia
Advance from group in Russia

Failure to do all three and im ready to move on.
>>
>>68402418
Soccer is too high variance to get rid of someone after that

US did okay in world cup, that's pretty much all that matters.

Adopting Euro/south american mindset of pressure cooker on coaches for results isn't effective.

Also it will help a fuckton getting the next manager if they know they will have time to develop the program and not be kicked by angry monkey fans.
>>
>>68402223
Youre sitting top of the table above Colombia and Costa Rica, though.
>>
>>68403121
ehhh colombia didn't play their starters in the final game. and we looked great against CR/shit against colombia

can't be mad at overall result, but its not like our performance last year is suddenly eliminated by this
>>
>>68402314
he's been here for like 5 years.
>>
>>68402418
>reaching copa final is a minimum
are you fucking retarded? usa is not good enough yet to rely on that. They are still not like europe/south america w
here we should put high expectations on them.

Also USA still doesnt have a lot of veterans players that can change the game. its seems like the newer generation needs to gain experience. After russia looks very bright with all this young players play a role now at a very young age
>>
He's realizing there's talent in the US that's better than some of the talent he's recruiting away from other nations and the team has looked better because of it. That being said, taking Mix to the WC over Donovan was pretty poorly thought out and he deserved all the shit he got for that

Keep him, he's the best thing to happen to US soccer. MlelSfags are fucking idiots and expect us to be a 10/10 super power right away, but he's only been coach for 5 years, the 10/10 super power countries have been doing what he's been doing for hundreds of years. Klinsmann is doing his best and more with what we have.

Guys like Brooks, Wood, Pulisic, Yedlin, Carters-Vickers, Hyndman, Horvath and the guys who are like 14/15 right now will lead us to the future.

This is an irrelevant cup
And that was an important game that jeopardize the one competition we as a nation care about
Plus there's the gold cup debacle last year (which only matters since 1. It gets us to the Confed Cup and 2. We shouldn't be losing in any game other than the final)
Plus the soccer is lackluster
And just idiotic roster selections
I'm just so tired of his shit
He's a shit coach and technical director and if this had been any high level soccer nation would have been fired by now several times
>>
Who should he play at RB against Ecuador?

I say move Cameron to RB, and play Birnbaum at CB.

Tbf last years team in the Concacrap Cup was pretty much 2014 wc team + Wood. The team is much better right now with Brooks and Yedlin having improved and become more important to the team and the introduction of Pulisic and Nagbe who is a decent box to box midfielder

And people forget despite how shit we were last year, Mexico only beat us in extra time in the last couple minutes with a lucky volley

Didn't Pep say it's a future goal of his?

Also any American manager in the world besides Bradley or Arena would take this. I wouldn't be surprised if a big name euro manager out of work would take it as long as they paid him enough.

Money, the opportunity to live in LA or NY, and a comfy NT job where the only pressure is coming from a couple dozen nerdy journalists. It might be the most desirable job in soccer.

Keep dreaming. It can't be the most desirable job if your prospects of taking home any major trophy are slim to none. Only Americans or Euro sellouts and frauds like Klinnsmann are willing to take it.
>>
>>68404155
I'd take Bob Bradley back desu. He was the only coach we've had who was fearless of the big teams and who would discipline his team into a tactical cohesive unit.
>>
>>68404239
ok then to the other points. USA is not a fucking high level country so scale back what to expect.

I am not an expert but doesnt the usa have a huge question mark in like 90% of their positions. all the good players are aging and the us needs to find the next gen of players
>>
>>68404327
Klinsmann might be a fraud in the sense that he talks a lot of game and may very well not know what he is doing. But I wouldn't call him a fraud since he really does believe in what he's doing.

Why is it so far fetched to think that a European manager would be willing to take on the challenge of developing an American team instead of winning trophies?

>us needs to find the next gen of players

We already have it. Our best defender is only 23. There is a 17 year old on the national team. 7 or 8 players playing in Europe ranked among the best youth players at their clubs. Another kid that was at Barcelona until FIFA kicked him out. And Jurgen Klinsmann's son is the future GK once he graduates from berkeley.

Every team has a bad loss. do you remember the usa beating spain in a confed cup?

>>68404495
My point was that for this tournament the usa is kind of in a grey area between two generations. These teams arent going to be as good as the world cup teams.

>>

this will make me laugh every time
>>
>>68404618
Are you capable of reading?
It's not the only problem
That loss to Jamaica wasn't even the worst aspect from it
It's bad that you lose, it's really bad if you play really shitty every game
Can't say that about Spain
>>
>>68404633

>>
>>68404599
How did Larry get into this situation?
>>
>>68404699
But that's not the point of the youth team
You're supposed to be developing players
How does that help?
>>
>>68402041
Beat Ecuador again and it's a deal
>>
>>68404730
You dont develop youth players at a tournament, you know that right? It's just a tournament to see how they fare against other youth teams, nothing more
>>
>>68404678
Have you even watched this tournament? They've been playing excellent. Didn't look terrible against colombia, conceded two extremely unlucky goals but were fairly solid otherwise, dominated a Costa Rica team that isn't far removed from knockout stages of the WC, and did enough against Panama.

The team looks better than it has in a long time, and once Brooks reaches his prime they'll have a truly dominant defense
>>
>>68404777
Yeah
But if you win by playing direct shitty soccer, what have you gained?

>>68404782
Talking about last year
The team has done what should have been expected of them
But they haven't done anything to make up for Klinsmann's past failings
He should have been fired before the tournament and hasn't done anything to make up for that fact
>>
>>68404858
but you are saying this like we are in europe, and south america where soccer is the top sport with all the talent playing it. you are been too harsh. soccer is still a niche sport alongside maybe hockey, on a good day, which is behind baseball, football, and basketball as the most popular sports. its going to have to take a couple of decades to be able to have those expectations
>>
>>68403996
>That sick Ā°360 the bald man did
How did they lose?! they truly have the skill to win
>>
>>68402041
Except for the fact that we were better under Bradley.
>>
>>68404942
What have I said that's over the top?
>Beat CONCACAF opponents at home
>Don't lose ever to the particularly shitty ones
I'm not expecting them to bring home a world cup
>>
He's shit, you people are like girls
>>
>>68404942
>its going to have to take a couple of decades to be able to have those expectations
Nope. You just need a good coach and enough funds to scout and work with players since they are teenagers. Make them play against better rivals, and in about 5 years you can build a pretty decent team, and I'm talking about a decent team, not what you have right now, which is 90% luck. I'm not even going to say heart because some of your players look like they actually fear the ball.

the question was about extending him past 2020. i'm not saying he gets fired if he doesn't get to the finals in this copa. i'm saying he should not be extended beyond Russia2018 without some signs of real progress and occasional over-performances. the team has been shitting the bed in the Gold Cup of late and qualifiers aren't off to a great start.

the copa is AT HOME
if the team beats kekuador and argentina and shows well in 2018, i'm open to extending his contract.

do i need to remind you children that bob fucking bradley had the US 45 minutes from winning the confederations cup, got out of the group in 2010, and was fired for losing to mexico in the 2011 gold cup? why? because it felt like the team was regressing.

it's fucking asinine to be considering extending klinsmann until we see how the team progresses over the next two years. if we're not moving forward, we move on without him.
>>
>>68405102
You'd swap back lines with us in an instant though if you're being honest

>>68405319

Bradley got out of the group in SA. Got an extension. Then got fired anyway after losing to Mexico in the 2011 Gold Cup final.

Have fun losing in yet another tournament and then pretending not to care about it after the fact.

The drought continues :^)

>>
>>68405731
lol we played like garbage against Ecuador and beat them 1-0 last month
>>
>>68405680
USA-Mexico will probably sell more tickets, Argentina-Mexico will probably be more internationally relevant.
>>
and this is the reason soccer will never progress
you're comfortable with struggling to get out of the group face
>>
You guys seem to be overrating CONMEBOL. Aside from Argentina and Brazil (not anymore), South American teams range from mediocre to just OK. Winning against Paraguay and having a decent game against Colombia aren't really big accomplishments. America would do pretty well in Copa America as well if you were invited more often, they in fact beat Mexico in 1995 and made it to semifinals. Aside from the two last Copa America that we sent our literal B squad and U-23 teams to play, we usually beat pretty much any South American team aside from Argentina and Brazil, this meme cup isn't really that hard to be honest.
>>
>>68405780
I'd rather lose to Argentina in the QF than lose to Mexico ever.
>>
>>68405780
Arg - Mex would sell more, the added fact of messi getting a chance to win something with argentina and on mexicos side the chance to finally win the copa america plus the landslide of mexicans buying tickets in america
>>
>>68405733
holy shit you are mad

the Bundesliga is one of the best leagues in the world and he is the youngest player to ever score two goals in it. Chicharito was still in the youth team at Chivas when he was 17, Zlatan was still playing for Malmo's youth team at 17, Jamie Vardy was buried in the dregs of the English league at 17, etc.

that's not to say he's going to his career trajectory is necessarily going to be better or worse than any of those guys, but it's safe to say that you're a faggot.
>>
>>68405717
>he thinks the usa is argentina, brazil, spain, or germany
What?
Having any level of expectations makes me think we're on their level?
When did I fucking say that
>>

Your players literally just kick and pass the ball with no strategy. Ecuador, as bad as they play, are going to rekt your nt

USA fans who do not understand: Go watch the Euro championship. USA is not playing high caliber soccer and we simply do not have the players to seriously compete on the world stage. Yet.

All of Kilnsmanns commentary is developmental. You have to home grow talent, develop it, and support it to seriously compete. He's wanting us to do it the only way it can happen.

Not that he would know. His resume is pretty empty.
>>
>>68405807
Its the literal narrative for freddy adu

Like almost word for word, when will you learn that these objectively irrelevant things like "he scored a goal at 17" are only publicized because hes american, every other 16-17 year old european that scores goes unnoticed.

Mexicos generation of gio and vela was hyped because they won the u17 world cup, until your youth wins actual things, hypin them does more harm than good

Again, refer to freddy adu.

2 goals means nothing m8, honestly
>>
>>68402418
The last two are no brainers but reaching the Copa final is expected?

Look, I think Argentina can choke at any moment but I think reaching the semis is reasonable.
>>
>>68405844
Off topic, does FIFA refuse to implement instant replay so the refs can plead ignorance when they throw the game?
>>
>>68405844
>word for word

so are you saying the MLS is comparable to the Bundesliga? Because that seems to be the stupid thing you are implying.

nobody wanted to admit that Adu was older than claimed because it was RAYCISS to do so, then he went on to be a shit player in a second tier European league.

the situations are not identical, similar or even relevant to each other in any conceivable way, quite trying to invent narratives.
>>
>>68405838
>this guy

haahahaha

are you kidding right? most of the best resources are in europe. Its best to send them over there where the real competition is.

Now I know why people hate the MLS fans. they are too idiotic to realize the talent needs to go over seas
>>
>>68405909
Even if FIFA wants Instant Replay, the bureaucracy is slow as fuck to make appropriate changes. Look how long Goal Line Tech was implemented.
>>
>>68405817
you didnt say it directly but I am reading between the lines.

you

>>68405844
freddy edu never did this against adults and he never did this while playing in a top league.
>>
>>68405838
where do you think this magical "talent" grows from. it seems to have fuck all to do with klinsmann. bradenton isn't producing anything special. the youth nt's, herzog aside, feature the same old u.s. retreads. the mls academy system is helping, but again, he doesn't have anything to do with that.

if he's some master of youth development, we should see results 5 years in. instead, all i see are german and mexican imports.

i had high hopes for him overhauling u.s. soccer from the ground up, but i don't think that's happening (partly his fault, partly due to entrenched interests at the youth level.

i'm fine if he sticks around in u.s. soccer help build it up, but i'm just not sure he's a very good coach.
>>
>>68405932
Because we need more Timmy Chandlers
>>
>>68405844
>one was hyped up by a desperate league in its infancy where players earned less than a backwater Greek league and defending was terrible (and still is) and has done nothing in Europe

>one is given the confidence of the coach in a world class club and has started and scored goals in a top 3 league at a very young age.

No they are not the same.
>>
>>68405914
Adu:
>omg hes scoring so much
Actual quote: "hes the next pele"

This fag:
>omg hes scoring in europe
Actual quote: "hes our best talent"

Rinse and repeat.

Have your youth win something before hyping them, then inevitably lose to mexico at the gold cup and all of your teams get knocked out by mexicans at the concachampions

Your team is shit, your youth is shit.
>hurr durr maple nigger youre not in the cup
And we never hype our team or youth fatty

>>
>>68403996
You know what the real problem with USA soccer is? They don't have any cool players. Nobody wants to be like Donovan or Dempsey. The new generation of athletes wants to get some ass and no USA player gives of a cool vibe so no one goes into soccer. USA could be the best if they find someone who is good and that they can market and in 10 years they'll have the best team.
>>
>>68405914
>nobody wanted to admit that Adu was older than claimed because it was RAYCISS to do so

>5'8" at age 13

but don't tell that to Big Soccer, or they'll form their mob and you will be decried as a racist bigot.
>>
I liked the USA team in Brazil's WC. Keep him
>>
>>68406079
the most """interesting""" thing about adu was that while he was like 15 and the hot shit future-pele starting in MLS, he was dating teen singer Jojo, who was also 15 at the time.

Adu was probably 22 at the time.
>>
>>68406120
in his defense I don't think he really knows how old he is, he probably has an idea and knows it's not 27 but when you are desperately poor in Africa I would bet time seems relative.

He does so much for the development of USA players.

Hes trying to push MLS to start players at the age of 18 and Avoid the NCAA alltogether if possible.

I was rooting for the US team because your NT plays like shit and still managed to get so far, but reading this thread, the amount of delusion and how some of you think you have a chance in this game against seasoned players, and how unsufearable you've become for advancing the group stage, dear lord. It was sorta cute but now you've come to a point were you really need to get schooled hard.

Pros:
He really gets the most out of US players that frankly aren't the best athletes the country has to offer.
He totally gutted and rebuilt US's soccer infrastructure and has helped increase popularity here
He dramatically improved the player development system
He looks long-term and ignores short-sighted media, fans, and "experts."

Cons:
He does some weirdass things and can be inconsistent as a coach
The team sometimes comes out uninspired in important matches
