Would you be in favor of a soft salary cap in MLB? Why or why not?
Bryce Harper has 500 million reasons why there shouldnt be a soft
Only respond to this thread if your team has 40 wins
Players on teams like Brewers, Marlins, braves etc that don't spend shit on payroll would want a salary floor though
It doesnt need one
Payroll naturally scaling down as retard gms that overvalue names are canned or forcibly educated on value/moneyball
There are a few players that get silly contracts every year but there are plenty of dudes one or two ticks below those guys that get almost the same production for far less cost and make gms look stupid
Honestly at this point the david price or miggy contracts are done more for buzz than for value, its literally impossible for a pitcher to be worth a million dollars per start and you have plenty of cheaper guys putting up similar numbers
Tl;dr no
Overall payroll is up, you are right about dumb contracts like pujols or Miggy

not true, an mlb win is worth about 4 mil in player salary so if your a 10 WAR player like trout, your effectively worth about 40 mil cash a year. There was a pretty good article on sports on earth about it a while back.

Just to follow up, MLB gms don't have a problem with accurately paying players, they have a problem with paying players for past accomplishments.

Trout isn't a pitcher

there's already a soft cap op. i would be against a hard cap
>>68184407
that already exists, if I'm not mistaken
baseball has a lot of luck involved, it's self-regulating in terms of parity
