Remind me again why the world cup isn't hosted in this country. If not every time, then at least on time every 20 years or something. Keep in mind that these are some of the smaller stadiums they could arrange and we could probably have a world cup with 20 90k+ seat stadiums.
>>
The world cup could be successfully hosted in California alone
>>
Because FIFA love getting kickbacks off infrastructure "investment".

Because there isn't a overwhelming love of association football.

Because bench seats might ramp up capacity figures but actually mean a stadium would score awfully when you graded it. FIFA use a similar system to UEFA.

Because they're all fucking thousands of miles apart.

England is objectively the best country to host World Cups and/or Euros in. But they should move around the world like they do anyway, it'd be dumb to host it in the same place repeatedly.
>>
>>68167482
see
>>68167145
if distance is an issue for you
>>
>>68167510
Yes, which diminishes the purpose of hosting it in murka. Also you have to factor in FIFA regulations. Does California have 12 stadiums in at least 11 different cities? I don't know that's why I'm asking. But I doubt California could match England for stadia, and not only that California is bigger than England thus the venues are further apart. And public transport in murka is fucking shit so good luck getting everyone to move around comfortably.
>>
>>68167608
>Does California have 12 stadiums in at least 11 different cities?

Los Angeles L.A. Memorial Coliseum 93 607
Pasadena Rose Bowl Stadium 92 542
San Diego Qualcomm Stadium 71 294
Santa Clara Levi's Stadium 68 500
Berkeley Memorial Stadium 63 186
Oakland O.co Coliseum 63 026
Stanford Stanford Stadium 50 000
Fresno Bulldog Stadium
San Jose Spartan Stadium 30 456

well, that makes 9
>>
>>68167827
Also are all of them suitable for hosting World Cup games? I know a bunch of the big stadiums in amerifatland don't even have real seats, it's just a bunch of benches.
>>
>>68167941
College stadiums are the ones with benches mostly.

All the NFL stadiums besides green bay have seats I'm pretty sure.
>>
>>68167482
You could host the entire World Cup in California, New York, And Texas without having to build a single stadium. Not to mention if you did it regionally you could host it literally anywhere in the country and we wouldn't even have to destroy rainforests or use Tibetan slave labor
>>
>>68167963
And then you still have the problem with California, New York and Texas being thousands of miles apart. You could definitely do it with local multi-state regions but there's no region you could do it in that is anywhere near as small as England. Face it, no matter what you say you can't match England. I guess murka could plough millions of dollars into building a bunch of white elephant stadiums if you must, but just using current infrastructure nobody comes close to England. We'd definitely use the money to improve some infrastructure if we got the World Cup but it'd all continue to be used to its full potential after the World Cup.
>>
>>68168495
CA is building the hyperloop, connecting LA and SF, plus LA is building another soccer stadium, and the Inglewood stadium which will be the best in the world upon its completion.
>>
>>68167037
Americans would literally get furious if it was here every four years. Not even joking, there would be legit protests.
>>
>>68167827
LA has an NFL stadium under construction.
>>
because the US is a boring shitty country with no football culture

even qatar has more football fans than usa
>>
>>68168640
So two more LA stadiums which means you can knock the Rose Bowl and the Memorial Coliseum off this list >>68167827

The "hyperloop" sounds like a good start but you've still got a long way to go with public transport.

Also most/none of your stadiums are dedicated football stadiums which is a negative no matter which way you twist it.
>>
>>68167037
Because FIFA love bribes and fraud; when they host it somewhere new or different, they get paid extra to do so.

Also because America, on average, sees more innocents die in gunfights than every other country in the world added together. Something to think about
>>
>>68167037
because fifa is corrupt and politicians are corrupt
>>
Stadium capacity isn't everything.

Americans can't even play the correct national anthem for teams and all their venues are baseball stadiums largely unfit for FIFA regulations
>>
>>68168972
True say, You need a couple of cheeky 30,000~ stadiums in there for your run of the mill Saudi Arabia v Cameroon games and the like. England has enough large stadiums for the important big games.
>>
>>68168495
Host between DC and New York. Plenty of cities, stadiums, hotels, and airports all connected by various trains and busses. Happy?
>>
>>68167037

Because we don't want it. Traffic is bad enough without a bunch of Europeans milling about and whining about the lack of socialist vegan abortion clinics.
>>
>>68169074
Not to mention enough Arabs and Africans to actually fill those games.
>>
>>68169184
Otherwise they can import Greeks who look like Arabs
>>
>>68169193
We look like Turks though.
>>
>>68169101
Give me 12 stadiums in the NY-DC corridor, include New England if you'd like too, and the stadiums must be split by no less than 11 cities, all must be at least 30,000 attendance and equipped for hosting football, and at least half of them must be over 50,000.
>>
>>68167608
You realize every stadium has shuttles from every hotel now. That along with every tourist trap imaginable built around them.
>>
>>68169223
Turks and Arabs are literally the same people divided by linguistic borders
>>
The US is nearly as big as all of Europe. If you host a world cup or the olympics in US, it has to be confined to 1 city or state, as thats the equivalent of a European country.
>>
>>68169252
Alternatively, a single average European city has as much history as an American state.
>>
>>68169236
It's the transportation between the vast distances between your cities that is the main issue. And your internal flights are prohibitively expensive and the TSA is a fucking joke so if you're expecting people to take several flights try again.
>>
>>68169269
>muh history

The US was a fucking uninhabited island for centuries. No fucking shit European cities have more "history".

Oh and in the current day, your precious European cities are developing no history while everything is happening in the states.
>>
>>68168640
that hyperloop wont be completed until 2030.
>>
>>68169229
You realize baseball stadiums can host soccer games right. Yankee Stadium had 50k show up for Real Madrid vs AC Millan. There are plenty of football and baseball stadiums around that area.

Why "no less than 11 cities", though? That seems extremely restrictive.
>>
>>68169274
Obviously you've never been to California.. LA would have 4 stadiums 21 miles form each other.. SF would have 3 less than 40 from each other.
>>
>>68169424
And if Pittsburgh is too far away, it can be replaced with High Point Stadium (NJ, 52000 seats) or Navy Stadium in Annapolis (30000)
>>
>>68167037

The reason is corruption. Football is already popular in the Arab world.

After the USA got conned out of hosting, the Americans went after FIFA.

Funny by the way, how FIFA corruption was an English obsession, yet in the end the English media were fully vindicated.
>>

I'd rather watch a game in Estonia with a capacity of 5,000 than in one of your 90,000 domes.
>>

And there are plenty of other serious footballing nations with an appropriate level of infrastructure to do so, let alone those that would like to host it for the second time - Spain, Russia, England. Given that the US hosted it only 22 years ago, it is unlikely you will be a viable candidate for a long time.

Other anons have posted lists of 20+ football stadiums in the Northeastern US alone (roughly the size of Germany) that could work for the World Cup.

>stadiums built for other sports

There's not much difference between football stadiums and soccer stadiums, it's easy to just repaint the lines to suit one or the other as long as there's grass. We do it for international friendlies all the time, and you guys do it for the NFL London games.

>80% of the country hates football

You're confusing indifference with hatred, only a tiny minority of people actually hate soccer. Most people just don't care about it.

>American sports are about the spectacle not the game so there'd be a half time performance that ruins the pitch

What makes you think that? We didn't do that for the '94 WC, or for any of the Olympic sports that have been hosted here.
