Gloryhunting is less frowned upon in the U.S. though, you can't deny that. People find it normal when seats are empty for a team like the Sixers. A lot of people only care about their teams when they win, in Europe this is less the case. Also, a lot of normies who aren't into sports attend sports in the U.S. because of the entertainment and all the stupid shit during intermissions.
That said, I still enjoy and follow basketball and hockey so I wouldn't say US sports suck, but the experience and culture is much different.
