He fucked himself, famalam.

Had he kept his head down and simply did his job, he might have at least made a decent back up or trade piece in the years to come.

Instead, his douchy arrogance (a product of his upbringing and lack of key reality checks) caught up with him.

The only reason he was drafted was that he said and did all the right things during the draft process (as far as I know).

Leaf is worse simply because Peyton was right there next to him and easily he could have gone one instead of two. Plus he was essentially a crack head who was breaking into homes at one point, Johnny is just a generic party animal.

Johnny Manziel: A Short But Eventful Career
>>
>>68042394
nope

manziel was
>lower draft pick
>less guaranteed money
>given fewer starts
>never given the full faith of the team and fans

sure he didn't make the browns better, but leaf objectively made the chargers worse, even for years after he left.
>>
>>68035809
But no one actually thought he'd be good in the NFL (except for the people that don't watch football).
>>
>>68039598

Honestly, this.

You have, what, an average window of 10 years if you are really good to make serious cash in the NFL? Maybe less? You are instantaneously jettisoned into the 1%. And you can't treat it like a regular job like every other person on earth does. You have to continue your disdain for authority and your addiction to partying. Give me a fucking break. Stop flying to Vegas. Stop boozing. Stop saying "I just want to live my life". Jesus Christ, just focus on winning and improving for a few years- you're getting paid more in one year than the average person makes in a lifetime, to play a sport and be famous.

Furthermore, its not like you can't party JUST A LITTLE. You're young, famous, relatively jacked and rich- it's not like you need to be drunk to pick up 10s at a club. Just have a single beer and get your dick sucked by a 21 year old smokeshow sorority bimbo, chill out, then go to practice the next day.
>>
>>68041886
Wanna make more than a million dollars throwing a ball. You listen to what the team wants. Also he obviously has a substance abuse issue. If you can't act like a grown man why should anyone treat you like one?

In my opinion, Manziel is the perfect bust and here me out on this.

Good one

The really shitty about his alcohol and drug addiction is that it's giving a reason for why he failed... like he would've been great if he had been clean.

Manziel was a garbage player padding stats in a meme college offense that has never produced a pro QB.

>>
>>68039598
Tim Tebow was a similar draft and had a similar career although he kept his head down and even kneed a bit. So maybe it's not only arrogance and partying
>>
>>68051514
Manlet and Tebow were never NFL caliber QB's. Definition of meme QB's, whose styles only work against shitty college defenses.

The Perfect Bust
>>
>>68044391
This guy is such a fucking moron. He single handedly derailed the USFL.
>>
>>68035153

I'm honestly trying to figure this guy out. He didn't make that much money. After this year it's going to all be gone.

It's just like literally what is he doing? Does he have all these people around him just telling him how great he is and how all teams will still want him? None of his behavior makes any sense. It's almost Fucking bipolar.
>>
>>68035809

There was a significant number of NFL teams that had him literally rated as undraftable. He wasn't even on their Fucking boards.
>>
>>68051571
Clearly the Browns saw some potential in at least Manziel to draft him so early.

>who /garyjohnson2016/ here?
>>
>>68053890
Do you remember that draft? All the retards (especially Manziel) expected him to go really early. He was sweating bullets when it came to pick 10 and he was still free. Everyone with half a brain knew he would be a bust and shouldn't be picked up in the first round.
>>
>>68035281
good one
>>
>>68054110
I do. He still got in the first round though, so clearly Cleveland thought someone else would get him if they didn't. I mean, we're far less competent at making draft evaluations than the people who do it professionally, and who have been doing it for years. I just figure they have better judgment than I do. There must've been something there.
>>
What Goes Up Must Go Brown: The short rise and long fall of Johnny Manziel.
>>
>>68054171
>There must've been something there.

Merchandising from hype. I have an incredibly hard time believing anyone in a position of power thought he would actually be a good quarterback. I have no problem thinking the Browns said, "well, we're shit anyway. We can't get a good QB this year. Here's hoping we make enough from jersey sales/endorsements/ whatever to justify picking him up."
>>
>>68044518

Another perfect bust is RG3 and I'm not just talking about his busted knees

I could see merchandising and hype being reasons, but it's obvious that that doesn't last very long when the guy is as shitty as he turned out to be. They must have thought he was at least serviceable.
>>
>>68054641
I can't agree with that because RG3 has a clean off the field record and plus he seems like a decent guy. Manziel is neither.
