You don't gain fundamentals in basketball if you don't study and constantly work on your game. Jordan's patented post fadeaway? He studied and worked on his mechanics to perfect that.
Same with defense, you don't get better if you keep playing scrubs and not practice fundamental defensive movements.
Every single thing Jordan did was rooted in fundamentals and mechanics that takes constant practice and tweaking in the gym. Couple that with athleticism, great size, and crazy basketball IQ, Jordan earned every single accolade. There was nothing "opportunistic" playing against Magic, Bird, Drexler, Miller, Isiah, etc. etc.
