Was Matt Le Tissier legimately good or is he only know for his meme goals?

no one has scored as many wonder goals as he but people dont care because his name doesnt have 'inho' or some shit on the end
>matt le penaltier

How many trophies has he won? How many times has he carried a team? How many goals has he scored? The answer is not a lot.
I'd rather be a great goal scorer than a scorer of great goals
>>67699741
he carried southampton for his entire career
>>67699794
Carried them to what, 9th place finishes?
>Le score-wonder-goal-then-disappear man
He was pretty good
>>67699828
to not getting relegated
He was content with being a big fish in a small pond because he would have been exposed elsewhere
>>67699883
he was content with being a big fish in a small pond because he knew what an asset he was to the team, and could get away with slacking off a little on the pitch/not training vigorously/drinking as much coca cola as he wanted to.
his career was comfy as fuck. he could have gone to spurs, but would have had to pull his finger out. his decision to just stay at southampton forever more and become a local legend was a good one.

He was legit good when he was arsed. Because he was a big fish in small pond he could get away with not being arsed half the time and scoring blooters the other half.
He carried Southampton throughout the 90's and probably should have had an England call up.

This tbf.
>Le Tissier man
Pretty good at Countdown.
>>67699741
161 league goals in 443 games for a poor side as an attacking midfielder/second striker is pretty good, and he carried Southampton his entire career. In his prime he was a great goalscorer and a scorer of great goals.
Trophies aren't everything to some players, and Le Tiss was one of them.

kek well played lad
>>67699670
gazza, hoddle and le tiss are the three most technically gifted english players of all time (not old enough to have seen hoddle, but my dad swears he was a football genius). none of them had a work ethic to match their ability though, sadly.

No it's some french shit instead
Underrated when he played.
Overrated by some nostalgiababbies now.
>>67699670
It's a good question as he had the luxury of having a team built around him for most of his career with low expectations. His technique is without question, but we'll never know if his style or mentality would have held up in a world-class team.
His big chance for England was ruined when the fans rioted and got the game cancelled vs Ireland in Dublin

Gazza was a complete CM.
