I always thought the delusional Lakers fan meme was over exaggerated but holy fuck you guys are serious. Let me break it down for you if you're actually being 100% serious.
Deangelo Russell is an okay point guard, who can pass and shoot pretty well. He is not athletic and he can't drive or defend very well, but his basketball IQ and shooting is good enough to make him a decent slightly above average PG in 2-3 years.
Julius Randle is just awful. I'm sorry I like him and I wish he wasn't, but the Lakers have to bite the bullet on him because he is never going to be a star. He gets out-rebounded by guys 5 inches shorter than him, his defense is below average, and he can't stretch the floor.
Jordan Clarkson is legit, and he's by far the best player on the Lakers. He is the only one with real star potential. He's athletic, plays good D, passes well, and shoots well. He's the best bet for the Lakers future.
Brandon Ingram/Ben Simmons could be superstars, it depends on Ingram's physical ability and Simmons' mental attitude. Too early to say how either of these guys will turn out but that is the 2nd best hope for the Lakers future behind Clarkson.
Hassan Whiteside, if the Lakers sign him over the summer, is fucking terrible. He doesn't play defense or rebound, he goes for blocks on every possession to pad his stats and ends up missing tons of rebounds because of it. His offense is okay but he can't shoot free throws which automatically makes him a liability for Hack-a-Hassan. He's also injury prone. He is not even close to a max contract player.
If the Lakers 2016-17 lineup is Russell/Clarkson/Simmons/Randle/Whiteside, they will win 25-30 games max. You can't spout delusional shit about them making the playoffs because I just broke down exactly why they won't. They'll finish 10th or 11th with 30 wins, then the next year they'll finish 9th with 40 wins, then in their 3rd year they'll make the playoffs. They'll lose in 5 games in the first round and that will be it.
