I know they suck, and they do, but they're getting better. Right now they're easily the weakest team in the NFL, but they have potential if coached properly.
50% of the problem is (was) coaching and front office. Pettine and his crew did a shit job the last two seasons and players like Dansby or Kruger or Shelton or Benjamin or Gipson couldn't play to their full potential. Mack was great but I don't blame him for leaving because the team was frustrating. In hindsight, Manziel was a complete bust and shouldn't have been selected. His off the field problems at Ass to Mouth carried over to the Browns and he shit the bed, and it's mostly Ray Farmer's fault. Carr or Bridgewater should've been taken instead.
The other 50% is attitude and feel and chemistry around the organization and with the players, and last season that hit it's peak.
Hue has brought a coaching staff with owl experience under their belts and has turned the overall feel and chemistry between players around for the best. The only thing to watch now is if that translates from the locker room and practice field to gameday and if Hue is really all he's hyped up to be, and I believe he is.

And, spoiler alert, the best team doesn't always win the SB. Out of the 10 teams in pic related, 6 won it, 2 lost it, 1 lost the conference and 1 lost the divisional (that Chargers team I mentioned that was the first thing I thought of)

For a little more explanation, if needed:
oSRS and dSRS (Simple Rating System) are ratings of how much better or worse the team's offense and defense were compared to the league average. Add them together to get SRS. Then I added in their strength of schedule to get tSRS, which shows more of a complete picture.
Naturally, when you have a really, REALLY good team, your opponents will be a few steps behind in terms of record and skill. But when you're gifted with a cakewalk schedule, your accomplishments obviously become less impressive.
The GSOT Rams could easily have gone undefeated. Their 3 losses were by a combined 10 points. But the only team that was at or above .500 at any point in their season was their eventual Owl opponents, the 13-3 Giants, to which they lost but of course beat in the Owl.
I'll admit, it doesn't look like it passes a smell test at all. But when you make it look the every other team is at the college level when they are effectively are by themselves,, is it really that impressive to beat some of these teams by 30+ points multiple times?
Meanwhile, the '13 Seahawks had the highest strength of schedule on the list, which isn't saying much knowing it's slightly above-average. But their defense was so good (barely below that of the Burrs) that it carried the offense and shredded the highest-scoring team with the highest-scoring QB of all-time. (It helped that the Broncos defense was not good.)
The Patriots are #1 on that list, but because they lost the Owl, they can't be crowned the best team of the Super Bowl era. They're #2 behind Da Bears. t. a Pats fan.
