>Game 7 in NBA/NHL playoffs is not played at a neutral venue
Whomever performs better in the regular season won those extra home games
Larry bird is overrated as fuck desu
>>67344128
how does it work?
Nice way to invalidate the whole regular season. As it is not useless enough like it is
>>67344172
We have a regular season than the teams with the best regular season record gets home field advantage 4 times
Goes
2 team a
2 team b
1 team a
1 team b
1 team a
>>67344271
So what if two teams without home advantage win their first rounds and face each other. Who gets home advantage then?
>>67344213
But you get venue benefits due to your regular season performance in the playoffs
>>67344288
Still based on best record during regular season
>>67344288
It's all relative, just depends on who had the better regular season record. If they had the same number of wins or points depending on which sport we are talking about here then there are automatic tiebreakers (head to head record, common opponents record, etc.)
>>67344288
Whatever the lowest seed remaining is.
If you have 8 seeds. The 1 seed has the best regular season record, then the 2 has the second best, etc.
each round, the better (1 is best) seed has home field advantage.
>162 game season
>>67344288
Than whoever fairwd better in their division
>>67344323
>>67344341
>>67344346
Cheers
Has an eighth seed ever won the championship?
>>67344371
The Islanders will this year. And when 18-1 happened The Giants were a 5th seed out of 6
>>67344371
The 2012 LA Kings
>>67344371
Of course, the Los Angeles Kings won the Stanley Cup as an eighth seed a few years ago
In some instances folks say that it almost helps, you have some teams who secure a good playoff position and then just sort of coast out the rest of the season whereas eighth seed teams fight their way into the playoffs so they have momentum, I guess a lot of that is superstitious though
>>67344371
Only the 2012 LA Kings
People like to meme and imply it can happen a lot in hockey but it really doesnt. An 8 seed can win a round or two but never more than that. The Kings were the exception.
It also never happens in basketball.
>>67344454
The Islanders weren't an 8 seed. They were a Wild Card but had the 5th best record in the conference, better than Tampa, Detroit, and Philly.
>>67344541
but they are lowest in the new playoff system
>>67344577
No, Philly was you silly frogposter
>>67344577
Then why didn't they play the Presidents' trophy winner instead a meme team?
>>67344371
In basketball, it never happens. Usually only 1 and 2 seeds win, and I don't think anyone lower than 4 has ever won. The NBA really only needs to let 8 teams make the playoffs total; the teams 9-16 are just fodder to make more shekels with extra games.
>>67345179
rockets were a 6th seed brah
>>67347449
Defending champs though but yeah
>>67347560
oh, and, in 1999 the 8th seeded knicks made the finals
>>67344106
>not knowing what home court advantage means
>>67344454
>forgetting the 2010 Steelers
Then again, that Super Bowl was rigged.
