I genuinely believed it was a good appointment and that he would do well. Not this well of course.

I never really understood why Chelsea sacked him - didn't they finish 2nd under him? I know he since had poor spells with quite a few clubs, not to mention with Greece, but still.

>>67117238
Because Mourinho was the new hotness.
>>
>>67117058
Claudio actually made Chelsea better, lowered the average age, and made the club attractive enough for Roman to even consider buying in the first place. Most of the big money signings that makes up that fee were RA splurging on luxury purchases.

Because Abramovich is a retard who thought he will win the title the second he starts throwing money at the team.
>>

he sacked him for mourinho who then won the title so not a retard.

>>67117238
his job was under threat all season with mourinho being targeted but it was pretty much the monaco game in the UCL where he went full tinkerman that put the final nail in the proverbial coffin. even before that everyone considered him gone at the end of the season similar to Pellegrini before Pep was confirmed.
>>
You are now aware that after this season 6 different clubs will have won the Premier League and Liverpool is not one of them.

Yep. So dogshit that they steamroll Europe lol
>>
>>67117501

entire leagues don't compete in europe m8

plus its easier to rest and prepare for europe when you only have to put out a c team to pick up points in the league
>>
>>67117517
>>67117517

juventus is not steamrolling anything, neither are the other italian teams

bayern is only steam rolling, because in their case the entire league is playing, because they buy all the best players from the other teams + they have money to buy strong foreign players
>>
>>67117534

juventus are steamrolliing the league, and are generally doing better than english teams in europe aside from city maybe

juventus, psg and bayern don't have league competition - this means they are probably doing better in europe than if they had to care and struggle for every game every week

you can say at least barca/atletico/real are competing, and it is true - but some of the dreck at the bottom of the league there is a joke, like having 5 or 6 aston villas to just beat up and not care about
>>
>>67117501

having only one or two good teams that are capable of winning in europe does not make the whole league good, quite the opposite in fact

let me distill your argument to its pure form
>english teams are doing bad in europe because they have competition in the epl

this way of looking at it is generally wrong
a team MUST play in a league with competition to be successful out in europe

if real played out of denmark you wouldn't be able to recognize bale and ronaldo after 3 months

so you may say to me
>why is bayern winning when no competition
i refer you to my previous post
>why is real/barca/atleti winning in europe
because the spanish teams are actually pretty strong - sevilla, villareal, bilbao, valencia are teams that are no worse than any epl team, and imo this parity(being generous to epl here) translates to the entire span of the two leagues

Also, the reason psg have trouble winning cl is because they have a shit league, their team and players don't get to grow

>why are epl teams losing in europe?

they actually aren't really losing that bad, but are representing their respective league accurately
>>
>>67117636
Arsenal always wins online polls. Those are the only things they win these days.
>>
>>67117645
also, if you say, the players are tired

firstly how come players weren't tired before when english teams were dominating one semi after another

secondly, ofc they will claim they are tired, it's an excuse

3 days is a lot of time to recover + all the doctors and chemistry they use
>>
>>67117636
>Liverpool
>12.4%

how?
>>
>>67117645

>a team MUST play in a league with competition to be successful out in europe

clearly not the case, psg are not being hindered in europe by an easy league, cavani, ibra, di maria, thiago silva, verratti, matuidi etc have not stalled because of the league, they are still excellent players - they need a better manager though

neither are bayern, and youre argument about the whole league playing is silly, what matters is the rest between games and being able to focus and plan for one particular game instead of two or three

you seem to miss the argument, you have distilled someone's argument but not mine

sevilla and villareal are decent but uh bilbao and have you seen valencia this season? lol - then you get to the bottom half of the league where real and barca regularly beat teams 5-0 and more.

The point which you have ignored is about rest and game preparation. If you have a difficult game against west brom(hardly a great team, but very difficult nonetheless) on saturday and then a game against bayern on tuesday you have to prepare for both but in entirely different ways - whereas bayern against some bundesliga bottomfeeder can win at a canter, resting players and focus most of their efforts on the game against whatever team in the champions league on tuesday

As an aside, I think Bayern, Barca and Madrid have better players currently than any premier league team - but they are also aided by easier league schedules (bundesliga has less teams even) and also the financial structures that lead to most players ending up at these teams - whereas the premier league has many teams who can offer high wages and bonuses throughout the entire league
>>
>>67117656

Seriously, why are their entire fanbase present on every poll everywhere? There's literally not a point in even putting one up if there's an Arsenal related option there.
>>
>>67117724

>firstly how come players weren't tired before when english teams were dominating one semi after another

english teams were better then but also bayern, barca and madrid have improved (they had a bit of a a flat period in the mid 2000s) and especially psg have improved

3 days is a good time to recover for most people, but at an elite level even if they are operating at 5% away from what they would have otherwise that 5% can be all the difference required

>you have distilled someone's argument but not mine
This entire thing is an excuse for why english teams are not as competitive as they were before.
Stop being in denial.
Also, West brom and below would probably be playing in segunda.
>>67117750
You are very naive if you trust the players when they say they are tired and have too many games and need to focus. Ofc. they will blame everything on something else.

Let me ask you this.
Do you really think that if ANY english team played in the bundesliga or seria a they would do any better in europe?

>>

you haven't refuted anything

>This entire thing is an excuse for why english teams are not as competitive as they were before.

not really no, simply a point about differences in leagues, but it is true to some extent that with the rise of tottenham, man city, chelsea and leicester this season and even west ham the league is competitive at the top - more than it was a decade ago

>Stop being in denial.

I'm not in denial - it's quite a simple and obvious point that a more competitive league makes competition over more fronts more difficult

>Also, West brom and below would probably be playing in segunda.

Now who's deluded? West Brom would be comfortable mid table in all european leagues at worst. Their style is horrible under Pulis but he knows how to get points. The same for other teams too - although they aren't all as bad on the eyes.

Of La Liga every team below and including Eibar would be relegation battlers in the prem.

>You are very naive if you trust the players when they say they are tired and have too many games and need to focus. Ofc. they will blame everything on something else.

It is not simply trusting players at their word, it is a simple and accepted point by physiotherapists. The body will not play at 100% 3 times a weak, the differences can be 'small' but it is only small differences between elite teams and good teams.

>Do you really think that if ANY english team played in the bundesliga or seria a they would do any better in europe?

Yes, the majority of the 'big' teams would find it easier. Being able to rotate more freely over the course of a season, with better scheduling (fewer games in bundesliga, friday games, monday games for more prep for midweek games etc) and without the madness of winter fixture congestion.

Does this cover absolutely everything? No. But differences in elite sports are marginal. All of these differences add to those margins and make it more difficult for Premier League teams, but a better league.

people give liverpool a hard time for the 'our year la' shite, but arsenal are just as bad for it. punters included.
