To all mericans: Souldn't it be better if the normal season had their own prize and then the top clubs played the play offs as a different competition?
No because the teams don't play the same schedule as one another, one team could in theory have a way easier schedule and win the league without deserving it.

How? Don't they play against all the teams?
If they are the top of the regular season they should receibe a prize.
For europeans your regular seasons seem pointless to us.
it wouldnt work in the nfl because you dont even play half of the teams, the nba, nhl and mlb all play best of seven in the playoffs so the better team wins anyways
>>66588830
Nope, no teams play the same exact schedule in the NFL and MLB. In NBA and NHL no teams play the same exact schedule outside of divisions (though this mightve changed with the new hockey divisions a couple years ago)
Divsions (and conferences in NBA/NHL) are based on regional areas for the most part to limit travel times and time zone fuckery.
Winning the regular season is important because playoffs are seeded so top teams play easier teams in the first games of the playoffs. Also home field advantage given to top teams in playoffs.

But if they have to paly with all the teams they will travel all the same, wouldn't they?
>>66588855
>the nfl because you dont even play half of the teams
They should
>best of seven
Wich I also find autistic as fuck, why do people even wathc the first two? What's the appeal, the emotion?
>>66588951
It would be the same distance covered by all teams but playing the baseball team 3000 miles away in Seattle the same amount of time as the team 90 miles away would be a waste of travel time.
>>66588967
the nfl season would be 29 weeks to play each team once, its easier to have each team in each division play the same schedule and award the division winners
the first games in a best of seven series are the most important, going down 2-0 would put you on the brink of elimination

Football players can barely survive a 16 game season, there's no way they could play 45 more games a year with home/away match ups with every team.
It exposes shit teams. If we went by the Yuro rules the Jim Kelly Bills would have been given trophies and they were chokers
>>66589032
>exposes shit teams
This makes no sense. All it does is allow shocking upsets to happen. A euro league system proves who the best team was that year.
>>66589062
That Bills team lost the Super Bowl 4 years in a row
>>66589080
Are you honestly trying to say that the 07 Pats weren't the best team that year for example?
>>66589101
In the regular season yes but not the Post Season
>>66589124
The fact that you have to be this pedantic to not look retarded shows you have no response
>>66589149
He's not being a pedant. Think regular season=national league and post season = champions league. Americans aren't as insular as Euros to think being the best on a portion of one small island is a big deal
