Anyone can put together tape of any player and make them look like a solid defender. He starts by using Diff%. Diff% can easily be accredited to simply being on a good defensive team, as the system that forms its basis credits help defense-based stops to the initial defender. This effect is more pronounced with bad players, so it helps Curry even more since he defends the other team's worst backcourt player. Curry is also a ball watcher in much the same way Harden can be. Both players make some excellent plays as a result of that focus on the ball. However, more often than not the result is bad. Nick ignores that angle completely and uses the tape that supports his argument. He then paints Dirk immediately shooting after Curry fouls him as Curry having forced a tough shot. He under-represents how frequently Curry gets blown by and even tries to use it in favor of Curry. Then basically the rest of the video is cherrypicked possessions over-selling pretty standard play.
Curry isn't a disaster anymore and has some toughness for sure, but every time I watch them play he's perfectly average or, when he ends up on the more athletic players, 100% reliant on help defenders to ever not get beat.
