I do. I just hate when people use the word socialism in regards to how owners and player unions, private entities, determine how best to run their league. It's just a dumb copout for avoiding discussion over things like implementing a salary cap in MLB. Every decision is still made with the intention of increasing profits in the long run, regardless of any other perceived intention.

But I dont think that CL is the ultimate trophy in european football. Winning the domestic league is most important trophy for the club, rest is just for fun.

Playoffs make sense though, keeps the league from being won by whoever has the most money to spend on a team with good depth. Lord knows european leagues need parity really badly.
Imagine being a fan of a small club like levante, sampdoria, troyes, berlin ,arsenal, etc. knowing you'll never win the title and the best you can hope for is maybe one season where you land 3rd and get some champions league football where you'll be crushed immediately? Thankfully leicester are pulling off the improbable this year.
