2010 is my favorite. People shit on it because Spain won by being boring, but the rest of the tournament was gold (Italy and France collapsing let an entertaining group of underdogs into the knockouts) and the final match still managed to be exciting.
Argentina '14 was way more boring to watch, but people don't care because they didn't win.

I don't remember 1996 and no one could watch 2002 here because timezones and Chile wasn't playing
2006 was incredible for me, France vs Brazil is probably my favourite match in history because Zidane played an incredible match against the most talented team in the world at that moment. Germany looked unstoppable (and took Argentina out, which is always a pleasure) and Italy managed to get a cheeky win through sheer willpower and heart. The Finale broke my heart because I wanted to see Zidane and Henry win the WC, but it was great after all. Probably the last World Cup where talent could carry teams, before the new marketed super-worldstars like Messi appeared.
2010 was super boring, but I still loved the fact that I could see Chile play on that one. 2014 wasn't that great either, and I was pissed that Chile lost again vs Brazil, but watching the 7-1 and the general crisp /sp/ memes brought a smug smirk to my face.
