Pop usually wants to win, but he will abandon games as early as halftime if it's obvious. If you watch extensive amounts of Spurs regular season games, you can recognize what's going down when Simmons and Anderson come out at halftime.
The fact is that NBA games aren't won on scrappy can-do attitudes, hot streaks and lucky 3-pointers. This ain't March Madness. It takes planning and lineups and contingency adjustments.
It's not, "Haha, we MEANT to lose, you losers!" It's more like Pop being one of the few coaches in any sport who can admit defeat. The Spurs played great defense on Curry. It almost looked like a zone. And unlike other teams that trap high on the pick and roll, the Spurs spring the big up and rotate. Sure Steph can get past that big, but he doesn't have a wide open corner or open Draymond to pass it to. Which leads him trying to take midrange shots over a tall spurs player.
