He played less than half the season's games for 4 seasons in a row because he was injured/not match-fit all the time, and Mourinho was sick of this shit. He was certainly not worth the price tag, as he was a perma-injured, past his prime player who underperformed compared to his Milan years, but he was by no means a bad player.
