There's no playoff system in soccer, just a league round robin with a game home and away. In its place there is an entirely seperate knockout only cup competition in each country, and on top of that there is a Europe wide competition called the Champions League that you have to finish well in your national league to qualify for, which is the most prestigious of the lot.

True, it can be pretty much over a few games early, but this by no means always happens. And it's never over 10 games early - at least not in any league that anyone cares about.
On the other hand, every game matters throughout the season for teams trying to win the league. It's not like, say, the NFL, where you can lose a few as long as you go to the playoffs. The teams challenging for the league need to try to win every game.
