I guess I'm not the only one. I stopped watching NFL games last year because I could no longer tolerate the number and duration of commercials; and the generally watered-down quality of play.

I've been watching NFL games since the 1980s and actually have old, televised games with the commercials. It's astounding how much fewer commercials there used to be.

The NFL is slowly killing the golden goose with crappy play (due to rules changes and free agency) and excessive money-grubbing. I'm just waiting to see what the breaking point is a large portion of the audience to tune out.

As I've said, I'm already out. They broke me two years ago.

Stop watching sports sponsored by jewish overlords m8 and join the glorious EPL

>15 minutes of tactical pre match analysis
>maybe the odd ad after the handshake
>45 minutes of entertaining elite football
>few bearable ads with British humour at HT
>Still make enough time for some Half time analysis
>Second half resumes and enjoy the last half uninterrupted

It's literally a no brainer. I watched a few NBA games this season and the ads were fucking raining. Even if they weren't visibly showing they'd drop them in a subtle manner.
>>
>>64363562
sorry soccer is too fucking faggy for me. Plus I don't wanna wear a jersey with a massive ad on the front

rather root for standard chartered bank instead of watching the NFL on Fox brought to you by VISA, Pepsi, and Chevy and the AT&T instant replay tßh

Eh, there aren't too many ads I guess but football on TV is pretty weird product, it's more like watching someone play FIFA than being at the side of the pitch watching in person.

I put redzone on during commercials

My team is in the trash can, too, but I still would enjoy NFL games if it weren't for the crass commercialism and stupid social issues.

1. It used to be that after scoring a TD, the analysts would do a replay and describe why the TD was successful. This discussion would occur while the ST were coming onto the field for the PAT.

2. After the PAT, the analysts might continue looking at the TD if it were particularly notable. Also, they might point out key plays in the drive that led to the TD.

3. After a kickoff, the program would not immediately go to commercial. In fact, change of possession did not guarantee going to commercial.

4. It used to be a 45-second play clock. The NFL shorted it to 40 second purportedly to make games fit in a 3-hr time slot. The reality is that 5 seconds shaved has been used for commercials.

5. Teams did not have to wear pink ribbons or pink shoes for stupid breast cancer awareness. Also, there were no women commentators because, generally speaking, the women commentators on TV now don't know shit about football.

6. Not to pick on women, the men on TV used to somewhat knowledgeable about football and could speak in complete sentences. Ex-jocks were typically teamed up with a non-jock who is better educated but somehow still knowledgeable about the game.

7. Football is a blue collar sport. However, the money grubbers have ruined it to the point where blue collar people generally can no longer afford to go to the games. Football is interesting because it is blue collar; it loses its character when a bunch of rich fops muck with it too much.

8. For a program that is loved by the advertisers because of its demographic (18-35 y.o. men), why are there so many God-damned commercials for Viagra and Cialis? If they actually need those drugs, maybe that's why the game has become so sissified.

>>64364179
Those are not the worst offenders by a distance though, the advertising is often for gambling, alcohol and extortionate loans.

Join the Redzone team 7 hours of commercial free footbal comes with a free Gus Hansen bobble head brought to you by Chevrolet.

Today I was out finishing up some Christmas shopping and following the early games on my phone.

>see there's a big play for a TD
>fire up Twitter to see if there are any vids
>sweet ESPN and the NFL have both tweeted out vids of the play
>30 second ad plays followed by a 5 second highlight video
>mfw

op iktf. it used to not bother me but anymore I just enjoy it for fantasy contests. maybe I'm growing out of the sport idk, it just doesn't have the appeal it used to have to me.

This is the worst of it. Blue collar fans are getting priced out of the NFL. Redskins may be one of the worst cases. RFK, even when the team had down season toward the end of their time there, was a raucous, melting pot of race and class. It was nuts and it was the middle class fans that made it that way.

FedEx is crazy expensive and seems to attract the worst kind of fans - the ones that are there to be seen and faux-tough guys that wanna get in a fight to feel good about themselves.

South Park dedicated a whole season to this kind of shit. Ads son

NBA broadcasted by American TV is also a commercial shit-fest. I prefer to watch it on Brazilian TV because they show a lot more highlights (of the game rolling and previous ones), recorded interviews at HT, and even the cheerleaders dancing.
>>
why dont they put ads on the jerseys like in euroball and have less commercials ?

I've actually completely stopped watching this season.
The straw that broke the camels back for me was when I was watching a Redskins game with my dad (DC native) and it cut to commercial in the very first quarter, ok thats normal...
>go take a piss
>come back and sit through about 4 minutes of ads
>goes back to game just to say "BROUGHT TO YOU BY -" and pan around the stadium for literally 5 seconds before cutting to commercial again
>another full 5 minute block of ads
>footage back to the game, but not before the announcer shills some big pharma poison for like a fucking minute straight

So over the course of 11 minutes, about 30 seconds was spent even showing the stadium/announcers podium, 10 and half minutes spent on ads, and ZERO seconds shown of actual sport
Fuck that.
We have a very finite amount of time on this Earth and I'm not going to waste mine sitting through such blatant kike bullshit.

The pace of the game is different, footbal and apehoop are comercial break friendly
>>
do ads actually work?
I cant remember a time that ive seen an ad and bought whatever theyre selling because of the ad
>>
>>64383670
they do, you create a bias in your head for when you decide to buy stuff. Say, a shoe, you're likely to prefer Adidas or Nike over something like Diadora, despite knowing nothing about the technical details that would make one better than the other.
>>
I can deal with the commercials but this has been one of the worst NFL seasons of all time. The league is a joke.

The worst part? The NFL is as successful as ever. There is no incentive to change anything because they've long figured out that people will tune in no matter what. America is addicted to the NFL.
