There's usually only room for 2-5 "godly", maybe Hall-worthy, receivers in each generation. Last one, we had Moss, TO, plus the tail ends of Rice and Carters' careers. Right now, Antonio Brown is probably #1, with Larry Fitzgerald and a few others in the very-top tier too.

We've seen quarterback numbers go through the roof, but the same hasn't happened for the top wide receivers. I'm guessing that today's quarterbacks just spread the ball around more based on match-ups, so while the top receivers can still put up impressive numbers, they're not stupid record breaking numbers like we're seeing from quarterbacks.

TES are used for more than just blocking and RBS are getting more involved in the pass too. Less targets means smaller numbers.

Antonio Brown is one of the best WR's in terms of skill moves after he gets the ball that we've ever seen, I truly believe that. Every time he gets the ball he's a threat to go 20+ more yards than he rightfully should.
