Sounds about right. He's not even eligible to play for England even if he did say those things. Because of the UK having 4 FAs but one country, you can't even play for one of the teams even if you've been here for the 5 years required for citizenship. You have to be schooled in the country for 5 years as well. Even Adnan Januzaj was never eligible, and he went to United at 16.
