The city centre is a hobbling collection of the physically fucked up, mentally shot and totally unemployable of the world. White, black, brown yellow or slav, they crawl through the streets in a permanent state of despair.

Parts are rough as fuck, more ethnically divided than they used to be. Avoid white estates, Somalian and Asian ghettos.

Lots of good places, a gloomy sarcastic humour, Chat Shit scoring for fun in an extended 42k stadium, beautiful country parks just outside the city. You could do worse.

There's a stereotype over here that Polaks are car thieves.

It's based on the fact that car theft rates are unusually high in the German/Polish border region.

It's a tough one that's for sure. Let's break it down piece by piece.

Lei - you'd assume this was pronounced "lay", but in fact, the I is silent, so it becomes Lee.
Ces - this is as it seems, sess
Ter - now this is where most people slip up. Ter, simple right? Wrong. Due to regional dialect it's actually pronounced tear, as in rhymes with fear.

So the correct way to pronounce it is like so:

lee-sess-fear

I still have no idea why the spellings stayed with the 1000+ year old names of those places while most of the rest got updated with the newer pronunciations.

The Anglo-Saxons would use 'name of people living there'+ceaster as their name for every foreign town or city.
