Ronaldo was the most complete football player in football history. He was fast, had amazing endurance, could perform well on his own, had Brazilian dance moves on the field and could single-handedly turn the outcome of a match. At his peak, most of his goals were made out-dribbling the goal keeper. He could go from the midfield and run, passing three to five defenders _consistently_ and score with a blast. Only on a HANDFUL of occasions defenders managed to stop him by traditional ball control (so no dirty tackles).
If it wasn't for his constant injuries and illness which made him rapidly store fat, Messi would just be "that guy" who wasn't any better than Ronaldo.
The Ronaldo (CR7) you are talking about has peaked years ago and now lives of an entire team dedicated to making him score. Put him in any other team and you wouldn't notice him. Put Ronaldo in any other team, and he would fucking run the team.

I think that Ronaldo is very comparable to Messi, and i'd have difficulty choosing between the two.
