Fuck the selection committee. They'd put Notre Dame or the Pac 12 champ in just with 2 loses before a 1 loss UNC Conference champ

Iowa and Okie Lite don't need to be butthurt. Iowa gets to play a Top-10 B10 team in the championship, and OKST presumably gets two Top-10 B12 teams (assuming Oklahoma doesn't choke). Both of those will look better than Notre Dame in the end.

Also, why the fuck are Memephis, Oregon, and USC ranked while Wash State isn't?

"Curbstomped" isn't exactly what happened. Alabama played their worst game of the last 5-6 years and was still within a TD when the game ended. Ole Miss literally had to have a miracle play happen to let them win.

The loss should count against Bama but it's not like Ole Miss dominated the game. Bama shot itself in the foot time after time and they haven't looked like that since then.

i've said it before and i'll say it again:

if you count wins against fcs (div 2) schools on your schedule, you should not be eligible for the fbs (div 1) championship. simple as that.

if you want to play them as a scrimmage or whatever, fine, but they absolutely should not count towards your stats nor your record in fbs (div 1) football. it's complete bullshit and the sec should be ashamed of it.
>>
>>63645366
Or at the very least they should be forced to play the top FCS teams if they insist on it.

nah, they should simply have to play a full 12-game regular season schedule of div 1 teams, and if they want to tee off on fcs teams for a paycheck, tack it on to their normal schedule, but it's bullshit to play 3-4 less "real" games to rest starters while the rest of the country has to fight it out against div 1 competition

I agree with you. They shouldn't have these FCS schools as opponents, especially in the middle of their season.

Looking on Bama's schedule, I'm seeing their next opponent is FCS CHARLESTON SOUTHERN. ALABAMA vs LITERALLY WHO from WHAT CONFERENCE? I can understand that the FCS schools does this to make money. But really it's only a means of just padding their win column, as well as getting an HBCU band to play entertainer for 8 minutes of the half. And even then, you don't schedule something like this TOWARDS THE END OF THE YEAR.

But here's the kicker: the funny thing is that FCS schools actually have a legit championship playoff, much like high schools do with divisionals, regionals, state, and nationals. Even ten-team conferences have championships to decide their one-true champ.

In a nutshell, FBS:
SEC, ACC, Big Ten, [insert power five here]
Two teams outside looking in, no consolation prize.
Just 4 teams picked by a biased committee who can be bought off.
Only one comes out.

FCS:
24 schools get in
No committee buyouts
No bowls
No Power conferences to hog the talent pool
No bullshit
One comes out a champ

I'm not convinced they'd make it over a 2-loss Stanford with a win over ND.

Stanford needs to lose to Cal and beat ND and Utah needs to lose to UCLA or Colorado for UNC to make it in over ND and the Pac 12 champ.
>>
>>63645759

Sure, but Goff hasn't looked great lately, and I think the secondary just had an off night. I never like the prospect of them facing a pass heavy team (see: Wazzu) but I think that they're solid and explosive enough on offense to make up for it. Given that Oregon put up 700+ yards on kal, I'm not convinced that McCaffrey and friends won't do similarly.

muh eye test

This committee shit is awful; they should have scraped the top 4 off of the BCS ranking system. Pathetic how the AP and coaches poll waited for permission from the committee to drop OSU.
>>
>>63645891

I have a feeling that the Pac 12 and ACC are fighting to see who can be this year's Big 12 in being left out of the playoffs.

Pac 12 already out. If Clemson loses, so is ACC. And rightly so.
>>

I can see your argument for Notre Lame, but Pac12 have not a fucking prayer to even reach the top 10

This
>>
>>63645898

I'm an apologist because the BCS committed an absolute travesty in 2004 when they put USC and Oklahoma over an undefeated superior Auburn team.
>>
Colley has compiled the "BCS Rankings" based on the formula they used:

1) Clemson
2) Ohio State
3) Alabama
4) Oklahoma State
5) Notre Dame
6) Iowa
7) Oklahoma
8) Florida
>>
>>63645916
If UNC beats Clemson and Stanford and Utah both win out, with Utah winning the Pac, I can definitely see Utah getting the #4

Granted that's very unlikely but I can't see the committee putting a 1-loss UNC, 1-loss Iowa, or 2-loss ND in over a 2-loss Pac 12 champ Utah. Not a Utah homer by any means.
>>
>make /sp/ explode

>north carolina beats clemson

USC and Oklahoma were undefeated and the SEC hadn't won shit since Tennessee in 1998

Auburn barely beat Virginia Tech in a bowl that year USC would have destroyed them
>>
>>63645830
They chose consistency over Oklahoma State's win over TCU
>>
>>63645949
>there is nothing you can do about this hypothetical situation with an astronomically low possibility of happening
>>
>>63645987

Auburn was undefeated.
Auburn had a much harder schedule than both teams.
USC cheated and got their title vacated anyway.
>>
>>63645949
Yet, a Big 12 team would get in before UNC. Enjoy your big victory against an overrated opponent.
>>
>>63645975

No fucking way Clempson jumps tOSU in a BCS style
>>
>>63645926
I should clarify since this is contradictory how it's written. It should use the BCS formula, with poll voters ranking with strength of schedule in mind. The computers were a positive force for comparing teams that don't have a lot of schedule connections, much better than human retards. And not ESPN's FPI garbage.
>>
>>63645946
My point is that UNC's chance is so far out that for them to even be considered we'd have to reach the point where the playoff teams have blown up so much that the Pac 12 is considered viable again.
>>
>>63645864
I imagine it will be similar to the game you guys played against Wazzou. Both teams will score a bunch of points and it'll come down to the wire. And as much as I think McCaffrey is a great player, he's been slowing down lately along with Hogan. I think teams have finally figured them out.
>>
>>63645987

The NCAA Title game happened in Jan 2005. In Jan 2004, the very year before, LSU, an SEC team, literally won the title.

Read a book.
>>
>>63646007
SEC was ass in the early 2000s especially 2004

when Urban Meyer got to Florida and Saban got to Bama is when the SEC got better but they are still overrated as fuck every preseason
>>
>>63646018
The ranking uses the polls. The AP would have kept OSU one without bending over for the committee's philosophy, but he has to use what the AP ranks.
>>
>>63646035

2003-04 LSU would like a word with you.
>>
>>63645985
I'd like to see these teams make it but that's also probably the worst outcome. Seeing Stanford and UNC in the playoff would feel wrong.

this year has no front runners, and it makes no sense

i love it
>>
>>63645949
I bet this game will end up like the Clemson/FSU game from 2013.

>we're putting up the same stats as clemson
>we're scoring 50+ points in many games like clemson
>our schedule is just as difficult as clemson's
>clemson 56 UNC 14
>9 t-times out of 10, we would have b-beaten clemson
>>
>>63646030
not until you have sex

2003 LSU was the worst BCS champion ever aside from Tennessee without Peyton and 2 loss LSU in 2007
>>
>>63646007
Nope

Before the bowls, Auburns best win was #8 Georgia

USC beat # 6 Cal
Oklahoma beat #4 Texas

USC and Auburn both had 4 Top-25 wins and Oklahoma had 5.

Auburn was third best any way you look at it unless you are simply a homer.

being a good nfl player doesn't mean you are a good cfb player

bama produces a lot of top tier guys who don't fit in to the nfl because they are too physical for the nfl's pussy ass new playstyle, trent richardson if he was allowed to play in college today would run for over 200 a game for sure and yet he can't even get a job in the nfl
