How can one man go from being so mediocre to so good?
He has a great team around him. Plenty of offensive weapons. Great defense. They've done really good the past few years with the draft. He'll be exposed in the first round of the playoffs.

Minus last year when their entire offense got hurt and their defense was shit and his rookie year, he's had great weapons around him every year in the league.
He was always a bashful quiet QB who just kinda went about his business. Now he has a new haircut and he's like a new man.

Hasn't he always been good in the regular season?
He started working with the guys who work with Brady last year. Ball handing, footwork, mechanics, etc...
Last year was the first year with them and he was way off trying to change his mechanics. That's why he was so wildly inaccurate. But in the 2nd year with them he's more comfortable and you can see how much better his footwork is.

Development, consistency, structure in his offense and coaching staff, motivation from within, confidence from the people around him, and a natural talent to play the position.
This is why you don't go all in on a QB in the first or second and throw him in immediately as the starter and then if he's not good instantly the moment he hits the field, fire the entire coaching staff, release key players on the offense, and fuck up all consistency.
There's one thing imperative to the growth and development of a QB and that's consistency. QB is 95% mental and if you're unable to rely on instincts and muscle memory because you have to run through your checks to ensure you haven't forgotten something basic regarding your protections or your adjustments at the line in the system you're running because you're learning a fourth new offense in four years because the head office bought into the "Win Now" mentality of today's meme NFL and keeps "shaking things up" to try and get a playoff run going.
Players deserve a chance to grow and learn and get better. Dalton is doing that. You're seeing Kirk Cousins develop in Washington the same way. They're not playing the carousel and Dan Snyder stopped shoehorning his way in. In a year or two, if they continue on the upward trend they both are, Cousins and Dalton are going to be really great QBs for their respective franchises.

Never even close to this good.
He'll surely have a bad game or two this year, every qb does, but overall he's been noticeably better.
He didn't give up and worked hard
Plus he have more targets this season
Last season was literally only Green and Sanu

There's too much pressure imo. Once the season ends he's gonna be staringat his stats and >0 PLAYOFF WINS and he's gonna choke. No way to know for sure until I see him in the playoffs again though.

So pretty much don't do what the Browns do?
>>63607410
No he was the definition of an average mediocre qb
The dalton line was the indication of whether your qb was good or bad
Now he's elite all of a sudden
But on the other hand
> 0playoffwins

Problem is he always decides to have a bad game in the playoffs
Is like he wakes up and says "HAHA TIME TO SUCK!"
>>63607453
To be fair it's never just been him. Their entire team turns to shit in the playoffs.

New haircut
>>63607438
basically.
>>63607365
Still mediocre, still overpaid.
Enjoy your one and done.

This desu
>>63607428
Honestly the whole team chokes in the playoffs not just Dalton. Defense looks like shit, offense fumbles and drops passes. Think it's more a coaching issue.
>16-1
>>63607365
If he gets a mere one owl he'll be officially as prolific as Peyton! HAHAHAHAHAHA
>>63607410
He would play this well for a 2 or 3 games in a row then drop a couples horrible games. He has always been a little above average. These kids just don't watch the Bengals as they're a small market team and they see funny memes about Dalton lines on reddit. Being autists they repeat the same thing over and over.
You do realize he's surrounded by talent, only rivaled by Aikmen & the early 90's cowboys.
Give Aikmen this team & I'm scared.
Give the red rifle the team & I doubt a divisional win.
