This was miserable. Nishikori didn't even try, Berdych has a negative H2H against everyone. Reminds me of 2006; except Nadal was there to maintain the illusion of Federer being able to lose (even if he wasn't doing jack shit outside of clay). Now, tennis may actually die if this goes on for 1.5 years. The ATP and ITF wanted their homogenized conditions to have their Big 4 all the time. Now that this backfired, they need to find a way to make Djokovic lose. It was ridiculous in 2006, it's even more so this year.

The current situation is actually even worse than 2006 because Djokovic's tennis is boring as hell. Federer was a true artist and dominated playing attacking tennis on fast courts. Novak just grinds everybody to death. It's quite sad really.
We need more fast courts. Federer beat Novak in Cinci and Doha this year which are two of the fastest tournaments.

I'll probably have to link this reply in tomorrow's thread. I ain't talking about making the courts faster or slower. But more different. I do think Fed' has beneficed from it. He didn't "exactly" pull a 2015 Djokovic, but had similarly good performances 3 years in a row (2004-2007). People at the ATP/ITF (as well as the viewers) closed their eyes because Nadal was there to stop him. Sometimes. On clay, mostly.
Which is why I think they have to differentiate the surfaces again to prevent the same player(s) making very little adjustments in terms of tactics: Borg had to go to the net at Wimb' FFS while you barely need to change tactics between RG and Wimb' anymore. It would most likely result in having overall a bit more surface specialists too, especially with the extended grass season. Probably will allow younger players to break through. This kind of shit, Federer 04-07 or Djokovic 11 & 15 can kill tennis if it happens again; being an all time great will no longer look special.
I could also be radical and even promote a comeback to the 16 seeds system to also help lower ranked players to break through and higher ranked players having tougher first rounds overall. Today, if you're a Top 8 player, your first 3 matches are izi as fuark, you have to be in the worst shape possible not to end up in the second week of a slam. Y'know, like mother fucking Tomas Birdshit.
