Webbo caused the closest this tournament has come to an upset in knocking out Gary Anderson in round 2, although given Gando’s issues dealing with slower players it wasn’t the biggest shock ever seen. His opponent tonight also used a slow match pace to his advantage in the previous round, and showed the kind of ruthlessness he needs if he’s going to force his way back to darts’ top table. Quarter final two sees Robert Thornton meet Taylel, in what should be the first real test of the week for the Stokie sex pest. Wee Rabbie has far more bottle than Terry Jenkins (bottle usually filled with Buckfast, and usually leading to his wife suffering several injuries as a result of ‘repeatedly falling down the stairs’), and if Taylel plays anything like he did on Wednesday night, then there is a chance of yet another title slipping from his grasp. Missed the end of last night's coverage but apparently Rod and Wayne were giving good press about the BDO. That should mean Uncle Barry will have them "disappear" from tonight's coverage.
Also, big Vinny apparently said on RTL7 that until it's the best 16 of the PDC versus the best 16 of the BDO, the Grand Slam doesn't really mean anything. He's got a point.
The fact the BDO number 1 in Duzza somehow failed to qualify for the event (yes, he did lose in the Wildcard qualifier but that's beside the argument) yet Mark Oosterhuis, a complete nobody, did qualify and put in the sort of performance that PDC mongs think is typical of the BDO and consequently damages their brand.

That's true. Out of the four BDO qualifiers, only two won a game (Butler v Boulton & Fordham v Jones) and both were against the weakest PDC player in their groups.

I also prefer sets. It keeps games more interesting in the long run, because you still have a chance when you catch a slow start and screw up the first two sets. In legs, you'd be 6-0 oder 6-1 behind and are almost out. It also adds some more clutch moments to the game.

When Taylor said "Thornton is as good as Jenkins; Jenkins is as good as Thornton" following his stumble over the line on Wednesday night, we all laughed at the ridiculousness of that statement. A man who has won two majors is as good as a man who has been humiliated in every single major final he's been involved in?! Yeah, right Phil.
But as sure as night follows day, December follows November and Asstit follows the CIA on Twitter, he made that statement seem oh so true. A 104 average and a mesmerising 76% on doubles in a 23-leg match makes MVG's performance yesterday look pathetic. It seems this happens every time in a leg play tournament: Philth will play shit, everyone will say "oh, that's it for him this year" and then he'll produce something like tonight. Thankfully he's got THE MACHINE in the semi-final so Wadey will be able to sto... oh no wait.
In tonight's other quarterfinal, we had a tight affair between the one who put Wadey out - Barney - and Welsh World Champion Wadey in Mark Webster. A Barney lead was whittled away by the one-time Lakeside winner but a stunning 124 from the 5 time World Champion ended the spirited performance from one of the sport's all round good guys. It's just a shame that it's come at a damning cost. Why did you make Wade implode yesterday, Barney? Why?
