The two expansion teams this year have been struggling and there is no one who can play well that wants to go to Atlanta. That's not how MLS works anymore bro. Sure you can get 3 DPs and that 4 TAM player or whatever, but you need a strong scouting network and an academy to fill out the squad. Expansion teams have always had a rough start, but it just gets harder every year now. Unless they open more DP slots I don't see any of the future expansion teams making the playoffs for a while.

Building a team from scratch isn't easy. Torronto has been pouring millions into it, and they're just now starting to get it together. No doubt those teams will have big name players. One of them will most likely get Ronaldo after all. On the other hand I think that MLS is starting to get some of shit together, and it just puts every future expansion team further behind.
I'd almost say they should force any future owners wanting to buy into MLS to get a USL team set up and running for a year or two while they get everything else in order for MLS.

That's a assuming that Bocenegra knows what he's doing, and they find a coach that handle them, and that the coach and Bocenegra are on the same page, and that they find good players to put around them.
NYCFC and Orlando had good first years for expansion teams, and they're both a few years off from making the playoffs. By the time Atlanta gets in those teams will just be 2 more teams that that Atlanta will to get over to make the playoffs.
