I can identify with that. After I finished high school I moved to another city with my best friend. Then it was all downhill for me. I started losing contect with people from high school and I wasn't making new friends at college. I was also isolating myself and spending more time on my own in my room than with my buddy. This went on for 3 years until I decided that it would be best if I moved back to my hometown and stopped being negative around him. Despite all that, he still reaches out to me and asks me to hang out whenever he's in town. The fact that he never gave up on me is probably the reason why I'm still alive.

I found volunteering good for this- there's usually some group in most places, and you can tune it to your interests. Gives you a reason to be talking to people (if that happens), and they're more willing to put up with your spaghetti because you're supporting the cause. I went to the SPCA and handled the cats, didn't make friends but it helped get me from 'too shy to talk to anyone' to 'OK, I'm not going to die'. Anything available near you?

Don't feel too bad. I used to be friends with one guy who even asked me to move in with him (he's Canadian) at one point. Then he introduced me to some friends of his and I started playing vidya with them too. Long story short, he got jealoous I was spending time with these peeps and deleted me one day without saying anything. I just shrugged it off.
