Soon to be wizard here, gave up because I'm too weird, picky, and (apparently) prickly for anyone to want to commit to me and other people are too boring for me to want to commit to them.
Letting go of that crazed "Gotta date/fuck someone or *insert form of social rejection here*" mindset can really give you a new lease on life. When you learn to see it as a kind of addiction so much of the stupid shit you've done to try and impress potential mates starts to look like the kind of stuff they'd put in a PSA, "Remember: Friends don't let friends do 3D"

If you're 10/10, you can just go up to a girl and ask her
If you're 8/10, you have to game her, get her into the mood, treat her the way she wants to be treated, or make her feel really special
If you're 5/10 you have to take her out and romance her and pray that you get lucky
