Many of my cis friends that are into trans girls think the same, surprisingly, so it's not uncommon. Very often, they think transgirls/guys are strong and amazing and wish they "had the courage to go through what they did".
Personally, I transitionned fully (mtf) and still play games as a guy to not get annoying/harassed/flirted with. At first I went ahead and was affirmative about being a girl (I have a "natural cis girl" voice apparently) but whenever I opened my microphone I'd get too much attention, both positive and negative. Now I just play along and only tell I'm a girl to people I get along with.
But even for us, even when we pass stealth and no one you meet ever figures it out, you still have this "imposter syndrome" you mention, thinking we're not feminine enough, or maybe something about your look is still masculine. This never really goes away until you're around someone that also understand this feeling.
So no, I might not be a cis girl, but hopefully I answered your question.
