Hell, all the I do is google hair style gallery. A lot of it will be couture shit but there are gems in the mix.
The problem is a lot of the great looking styles require upkeep, and a good hair cut cost a pretty dime in the first place.

A couple of times in college my friend (female) worked my hair into legions of tiny braids, so that I looked like some kind of a black person or something. I didn't really know how to pull off that look (or any other look) so I just kept it for a day or two and then undid it. But it was kinda neat. And possibly ridiculous.

A proper hair cut is supposed to frame your face and accentuate your features. Go to a hair stylist or a good barber and have then hook you up. If they're worth thier salt they'll know what hair cuts are available to you to make you look as good as possible.
Not really that long, but I've been growing it out for almost a year now. Right is how I usually keep my hair.

You want tips? I'll give you tips. I have the best tips. The tips I have, let me tell you, are simply the best. If there was a way to categorize the tips I'm about to give you, you'd be surprised it hasn't been done before. Really, these are some top notch tips.
And now that that's out of the way:
-avoid silicone in any and all product you use.
-use a wooden comb to prevent any sort of static building up
-do not shampoo every time you wash, you strip the oils that are there. Instead condition .
-avoid using hot water. It opens up the follicles and can actually cause more to fall out than normal. Instead use lukewarm or somewhat cold water.
-furthermore, you don't need to wash your hair everyday you bathe. The oils built up are there for a reason, just use a comb or brush to get it spread from your scalp to your tips
-these truly are some great tips, and I should know I'm a great tip giver
-give yourself a deep condition every once in a while. Get unrefined coconut, olive, and/or sweet almond oil and get your hair fully covered. Put on a shower cap and lounge for about 30-40 minutes. Then shampoo and condition as normal and dry it out.
-when you can, sit out in the sunlight and dry it out that way. Meditate in the meantime.
-raw apple cider vinegar, with the sediment at the bottom. A quarter cup directly to the scalp and letting it sit for a few minutes also does wonders. (I find any flakes I might have just come off when combing, and it causes for hella soft hairs)
-drink water, stay hydrated
-sweet almond oil on split ends overnight. Good stuff.

-hair dryer is heat. Heat is not great the longer your hair gets. It causes a ton more evaporation that towel or sun
-towel drying is, eh, a go too in colder weather. It just gets weird trying to dry up with a wet towel.
-sunlight w/ and w/o a breeze is my go to when the weather is nice only because you can synthesize vitamin d at the same time as drying off at a pace moderate enough to take a moment to meditate.
-combing should be done twice a day to get knots out.
