Always been most into stoner/doom stuff. Been playing the fuck out of Sleep's Holy Mountain a ton recently, always a great listen. Same with Electric Wizard's Come My Fanatics. Recently gotten into The Sword, have thus listened to their Warp Riders album a decent amount recently, too. Any good doom/stoner/sludge metal recommendations?

Pic is my setup, Orange OR15 into a 2x12 Avatar cab loaded with Greenbacks. Guitar is a 1969 SG Standard w/ a lyre vibrato tuned to C std. No pedals, as this thing's a gain monster.
>>
>>23386588
A watain "forever lawless" patch, darkthrone's a blaze in the northern sky, an Agrimonia patch, Bongripper back patch, a King Dude and Arch goat pin, and a pin that says "give blood, play roller derby".

Just realized I said no pedals, and there are clearly 2 in front of it in that pic. I got rid of the Blue Box, was just trying it for shits and giggles. The wah is still there, though. So I should have said no OD/fuzz pedals, all the distortion is delicious power and preamp tube saturation. The SG's on the floor in this pic, shot a family photo a while back when I went home for break.

Thanks! Love all those things. Just got that Orange AND the cab (loaded, too!) for 450. A little over half the cost of the head for the head AND the cab. I was ecstatic. The thing SCREAMS, would wholeheartedly recommend. The SG paired with it produces a sound which makes it so that every time I play, I must play at least one Sabbath song, or I assume I will spontaneously combust.

I've actually just got the Crybaby Classic now. I am looking into something like a Muff w/ a tone wicker or a ProCo RAT. Also want a tremolo, because muh Born On The Bayou. Not sure what else I want, if anything. Not a huge pedal guy (yet, at least, I've heard it's a disease). What're you rockin'?

As to your suggestions, I am writing all 'em down to get to in the morning after class. Stoked to get some new tunes in me.

And that SG is beautiful. I imagine it has a perfect tone paired with your Orange.

Lol, I've got that problem as well. Got the RHCP asterisk on my wrist this summer and have since had to resist the urge to spend all my monies on more.

And thanks! Don't think I will ever part ways with it. It's just got a nice, woody resonance unplugged that translates to unreal harmonics and tone when amped. Nice choice on yours as well! Pelham blue is a fucking cool color, my friend has that exact same guitar, and it plays incredibly well. What kind of amp is the Windsor? I've heard great things about Peaveys, esp. from metalheads of all stripes.

'Tis cool to talk to folks on the 4chins about this kinda music/gear, never would have called it happening. Will check up on the thread in the morning and letchya know what I thought of some of the music ya shot my way.

Deuces for now, /metal/
>>
>>23387039
Peavys are awesome amps, especially the high gain stuff. The Windsor is basically Peavy's afforable amp, but it can perform and perform good. It's perfect for doom and sludge. Not as high gain as a 5150 or a 6505, but still great nonetheless.
G'night, anon.

Bout 2 weeks.
Absolutely fantastic for recording and v low volume playing (paper thin walls...)
>>
>>23389615
It's not bad. Could use morrow end on the gain channel however. You can actually turn the wattage back with a little knob to.Get more gain at lower volume, which is cool. I keep mine rolled all the way back. The.clean channel is pretty crisp. It has a little switch to brighten it up, which is nice for my 7 string with emg 707 pups.

These are my gripes with it:

>No master volume
>only one reverb, wish it had separate ones for each channel
>foot switch doesn't have buttons for reverb or the bright switch for the.clean channel
>gain channel could use a tad more low end
>>
>>23392055
I think the low end is a problem with most modeling amps. Nothing that can't be solved without pedals, or maybe some tweaking with the amp itself.

The ginger. Did a Google Image search for the band and he was the redhead. Didn't look into it much further.

Either way, hope you all have a blast! Shame you're skipping over Pitt, would totally take you out for a beer... or several.

What do you mean?

Wasn't there a lineup issue with The Faceless?
>>
>>23392560
Haha thanks man I appreciate it! Thankfully the venues gives us drank tickets. We also have band beer written into our contract for every venue. Its a pretty nice gig that I am lucky to have.

Well, Keene pretty much writes and records all of the music for The Faceless so yes and no. Every time he goes on tour he can go with different members, and he usually does. He had a set band for a little bit but they went to go do other stuff.
>>
>>23392618
Oh, so The Faceless is just Keene and a bunch of session dudes?
>>
>>23392625
On tour yes, but Keene literally wrote and recorded his latest album by himself. Guitar, Drums, Vocals, Bass. Everything by himself. He kind of took a convoluted approach to recording the drums, but he did it haha
>>
>>23392639
I think he should just own the fact that he's a one man band lol
>>
>>23392647
Yeah, pretty much. A lot of guys do it like that now though. Aaron Marshall is pretty much the same way in Intervals. The difference is that Keene is super cool to hang out with and Aaron is fucking douche bag.
>>
>>23392664
Is he really? How is he a douche?
>>
>>23392672
Lets just say he still makes "your mom" jokes.
>>
>>23392688
Oh god.
>>
>>23392688
lol'd

Yeah I think some different tubes could really help it out

Here's what I'm listening to at the moment. Mostly just needed something without lyrics so I could focus on reading.

Shit, my guilty pleasure of 10 years ago...
>>
>>23395727
I saw them live in St. Louis. It was over 90 minute, in a 100 ft room, with about 30 other people. They signed all of our merch and talked to us to at least two hours; it was easily the best concert I've ever been to. If you have the chance to see them, do it.

I have no guilt in my pleasures :)

I hate you so much.
