Just practice taking selfies every now and then. Experiment with different lighting and different expressions. Start with simple ones at first like what you did there, and slowly move into bigger and bigger smiles as you gain the confidence to pull them off without having them look forced.
White light will laigh up your face nicely, where yellow will make the shadows of your cheekbones and such show nicely

Pimples suck, but everybody gets them. Only dicks will look at you negatively because you have one. The toothpaste trick works well for me, but look up a few things. Dont be nervous about buying products for them either. If it helps your confidence or self esteem is well worth it

I'd say white, sunlight is always better as it's the most natural light.

I always look at a small mirror that I hold behind the phone, I can't seem to focus my eyes on the camera otherwise and it allows me to see my expression, distance etc.
