there was almost no way to prevent all of the sketchy shit that happened via tinychat and the worstboard blog while trips were still in. it was too easy to log people's deets and it was made clear that loads of users just habitually screengrabbed everything that was ever posted. so you post something on your very first visit to soc as anon, never realising that it could be used to incriminate you weeks later when you started tripping.
4chan and soc works by making people think their posts are disposable temporary things. the user base of soc basically proved that everything on the internets is forever, and destroyed their own community by doing that.
