I'm not from the UK. I'm Canadian. And yeah, smoking was a hobby, in a way. I became addicted very quickly and even though I was a new smoker, began smoking far more heavily than any of my friends. It got to a point where my habit earned me a nickname: Smokestack. It became an elaborate inside joke thing, where we had this alternate persona that was an extreme exagerration of my shitty personality, mixed with Tom Waits and a heavy dose of magic realism. But that part kind of took on a life of its own. I just had the nickname and the habit to uphold. Some people still call me Stack.
I would kill a man to be 18 again. I'm not exaggerating. I would commit murder for the chance to have a do-over. To go back to the last point in my life I was happy and take a different path. To not fuck everything up.
